Best holiday ever. So much to do and so much to see. Take a good pair of walking shoes and you can walk from the colleseum to the vatican in no time at all. The whole trip can be done on foot. A must is the Piazza Novona which has three lovely fountains and cafes/restaurants all around it. If you want to visit a gallery then the Villa Borghese Gallery is superb and is also surrounded by nice gardens but you need to book as it is very popular. Enjoy

(Report Problem)If you love being ripped off, almost getting hit by a car or motor bike(they're everywhere like a swarm of bees) this is the place to be. It's also helpful to love grafitto, it's on almost every available spot. A real disgrace to any city. The desk clerk made it a point, several times, to watch out for pickpockets. Be very careful of the cab drivers. Make sure the price you are quoted is for everyone in your party---not each person. They are apt to also charge extra for luggage. Be sure to ask. You will probably spend a lot more than you expected to.

(Report Problem)So much time spent looking forward to my second visit in Rome only to have it ruined on my third day when my bag was slashed clearly with a stanley knife (so sharp) and my purse removed. Apart from the shock the attitude of the police was something else. I very much doubt that I would have ever experienced such an attitude reporting a theft in the UK. All I got for the first ten minutes was the typical shoulder shrugging, they just did not care.

(Report Problem)Just arrived back yesterday from this graffitit ridden, ill kept, mess of a city. Poor transport, (where buses wait at the termini at either end until packed like sardines - hence don't even try to board one in between.) Rip off restaurants, hidden cover charges, £6.00 for a basket of bread and food that tasted tinned. We ate in 8 different restaurants and only one was good. Romans either incredibly nice or outstandingly rude. Vatican Museum is a series of corridors where there is no opportunity to stand and admire anything because of the herds (and I mean thousands) of people being ushered along to see the Sistine Chapel at the end. I really cannot emphasise what a disappointment Rome was and will be sticking to Paris from now on.

(Report Problem)All reviews shown here are so true - dirt and graffiti on the one hand and amazing sights on the other. My favourite place on Earth should amaze you, just be prepared for both. Only criticism - not very disabled-friendly, hence I am writing this. If you are travelling with someone in a wheelchair, like myself, make sure you are strong enough to deal with crazy high kerbs, narrow pavements and a lot of cobbles. Hard on both, wheelchair user and carer... Luckily many friendly Romans about to lend a hand, if needed! Also, only a small part of the Forum is accessible with a chair (if you're brave) and there is no way really to get up to the Palatine Hill at all.

(Report Problem)If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Rome's main attractions, but still soak up some culture, then head to Poppea's Villa on the outskirts of the city. This ruin is still largely in tact, including entire brightly coloured frescoes and art work.

(Report Problem)The moment I arrived in Rome, I knew things were going downhill. Cab drivers can be very dodgy - one tried to con me into paying more than the fixed fare from the airport! Every building is dirty, graffiti is everywhere, everything is WAY over-priced and every street consists of nothing but small, dark cafes and bars. It doesn't feel very safe either - especially in the area around Termini. The only impressive-looking area was the Vatican. Never again!

(Report Problem)Rome is noisy, dirty, not enjoyable at all, people are rude, we would not go back. The area around the station is especially best kept well clear of, it is disgusting. Rome is a blot on an otherwise beautifull country, Ughhhh
