I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

four stars

It's a great place to visit! I would do it again in a heartbeat. I spent 2 weeks in Rome and didn't get to see all the sites. There are plenty of places to visit that would be day trips also.

Romantic Rome

five stars

Returning to rome with my boyfriend this past year was incredible; not only did we get to experience all that Roma has to offer with each other, but it was so romantic! Can't wait to go back! The Amalfi Coast was also absolutely beautiful- HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Italy for Less

five stars

Rome will capture your heart. It's busy streets and people will leave you with lasting memories. The Crown plaza was cheap but still central enough to achieve our objectives. And that was to see everything without burning up all our dough. Get on the Holiday web sight for travel deals.

Rome w/children

five stars

Rome is fabulous. I traveled w/my 4 yr. old and a 13 yr. old..we had a wonderful time with the most gracious and helpful people we've ever met. The city overflows with history and culture. We stayed in the Jewish Ghetto and walked to nearly everywhere, usually by accident, simply because we were enjoying ourselves so much. Despite my Berlitz Italian, it was easy to navigate the city with many Romans noticing my confusion while studying the map..and stopping to help us find our way - and they usually gave us some great "insider" info. Absolutely DO NOT miss Santa Maria Maggiore - stunning. And wander around the Colosseum, Museo Capitolino, Forum, etc. at night. Never felt threatened despite 2 children, a backpack and countless bags in hand. Rome has stolen our hearts....even though we spent an add'l 2 wks in Tuscany...we cannot wait to get back to Rome.

Overwhelming aura of the past

five stars

It's easy to get around with their Metro system. The costumes worn by the "ancient Roman" guards at the Colosseum were a bit plasticky and very Mickey Mouse, but that didn't take away from the aura of the place. The restaurants and shops were very romantic. Definitely a go.

The city is full of surprises!

five stars

Originally, I had planned on only visiting Rome for four days but ended up in the city for over seven! I was amazed by the history, the architecture and the art. I spent my days visiting the churches of Rome and locating all of Michalangelo's works within the city. I was a backpacker at the time so money was tight. I plan on returning with my husband to enjoy the restaurants and bars the next time I return.

Romantic Rome

five stars

The city is walking friendly and there is something to see everywhere you look. The history is fantastic. The people are friendly and very helpful. The food is so fresh and delicious at every restaurant. The fresh food markets are exciting with their fresh Parmasian cheese and wonderful olive oils. The Fountain of Trevi and the Spanish steps are calling me back to Rome.
