Galway has everything you could want, a fabulous bustling city and stunning scenery in and around the county. The Arann Islands are definitely worth a visit for the views, the people and the handmade gifts. Irelands oldest carnival takes place the first weekend of August every summer in Ballygar and is a must for the family (the pubs and bands in the evenings are great for the adults too). The Galway Races at the end of July are definite must, they run for the week and include Ladies Day which is a great day out (and usually spills into the evening). There are numerous fabulous towns and villages around the county which make galway the perfect place to visit. The food, the shopping, the people and the places make this a perfect destination for anyone looking for a holiday!
Great for: History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife, Budget Travel, Family Holidays
Last Visit: august 2005

(Report Problem)A great city for all ages with plenty to do. Shopping is good and the pubs are friendly and have plenty of live music. If you have the time, try to take in Clifden and Inishbofin - an experience never to be forgotten - It made the best holiday ever!! Cant wait to return

(Report Problem)My fiance and I really enjoyed Galway. It is a trendy, up & coming Irish city/town. It is still small, but growing, and is a general all around fun town. Good food can be found there as well as great pubs to go to! All around, Galway is a great town to visit. Additionally, there is a significant amount of history associated with the United States there, as it was the major departure point for Irish immigrants going to America.

(Report Problem)BEST FRICKIN COUNTY IN THE COUNTRY!! Excuse the caps, but my enthusiasm is not entirely patriotic. I've had to move away from Galway due to college, and I miss it terribly. It's such an artistic, colourful, interesting and unique county and city. There's always something fascinating adn truly Irish to grab your attention the vibrancy of life is unparalleled!
