(Report Problem)Budapest is a city of nearly 3,000,000 million people if you include the out skirts. The Hungarian currency is HUF or Forint. Although Hungary is in the EU, it hasnt completly changed over to the Euro. The city is full of public transportation, and unlike in places like NYC,when you buy a metro ticket (subway), it can also be used for the Hev, Bus, Tram, Trollie, and many other transportation type veichles. The sights are also wonderfull. There are too many to list, but i suggest Margit Island, Buda Castle, Matyas temple, and ofcourse the Parliment. The hotel's are comfortable, and ussualy affordable. Food is great, and you can find multiple restraunts. Budapest has an awsome night life too. You will find everything fine-excellent in this city. Only thing you better be carefull with is to keep your valluet / purse, where ever you keep your money straped or hidden. Pocket pickers come by, and can take money out of your pocket without you even noticing, this is a proffesion in some cities in Europe including Budapest. If you have your money in a safe place, you dont even have to worry.

(Report Problem)I have lived in Budapest now for over three years. The Gellert Baths is overrated. It had its hayday years ago, but it is now over-priced with fading beauty. Statue Park is interesting, but cumbersome to get to on public transportation, not suggested if you have a short time here. Your time is better spent elsewhere.

(Report Problem)I have viewed many online publications for Budapest inclusing the Budapest Sun, Budapest Business Journal, Budapest Week and a few others. I eventually found them unuseful to a me as foreigner coming to Budapest for the first time.... or a repeat visitor. I found a new website (actually an online magazine) called www.showmebudapest.com that had some great information and it was downloadable (PDF format). I just printed some of the information I needed before I went there and it helped a lot. The site says they are actually developing it now and will have discounts and some coupons, so I am looking forward to the updates. They even write that there will be information for kids - this is good as I have 2 and hopefully it will be useful. Ben Smythe

(Report Problem)We had been told that all public transport closed down on Christmas Eve, so I organised a car from the airport. As a consequence of the above, we expected to have to do a lot of walking on Christmas Day ; not the case. The buses and tubes were running a full service. About three minutes was the time between trains and similar for buses on most routes. Excellent. We found museums galleries and churches open. It is a good place and I put it on a level with Prague and Vienna. It is best to use their currency since if you use Euros, they don't give a very good rate of exchange. OK my hotel didn't anyway. The three day travel card was very convenient to use, but cost over 5000 florins or around £16, but it did get you in to see the art.
