Easy to get to, excellent minibus service from airport to central hotels. A lovely city, stunning buildings and parks with truly delightful and genuine local people. Good food and good beer and wine. Shame about all the grafitti on the buildings.

(Report Problem)great atmosphere, beautiful views, rich history, tasty food. Can be very hot in July, take plenty of water. Dinning on a river ship on the bank of danube at night opposite the illuminated buda castle was wonderful and highly romantic.

(Report Problem)I visited from the UK a few years ago and loved it so much I now live here. Even in the two years I have been here so much has changed, city development, cafes, bars and clubs. There is always something to do.

(Report Problem)There are a lot of beautiful ancient buildings which are worth to see. Hungarian gastronomy also worth to give it a try. Budapest has nearly everything to amuse, and the other things can be found in the very near villages. (Like the golf-hotel at Göbölpuszta.)

(Report Problem)Budapest was chosen as our 'lads trip' as Prague the year before was so successful. We went looking for good nightlife by night and chill out walks by day. Budapest is beautiful, it is one of cleanest places i've ever seen. The clubs were average in my opinion, and the town very spread out which made it difficult for getting time to look around. The best we found to do was get a good restaurant and then chill out by the outdoor tables around Andrassy Ut (of which there are many) This is where everyone meets. The caves up by the castle are a must but Margaret island was a bit of a disappointment. Beware of the Table dancing places! darn that champagne is expensive......and the bouncers large! be warned. All in all nice.......but not THAT nice.

(Report Problem)I grew up in Budapest, then moved around the world and ended up in Montreal, Canada. When I left (beginning of '90s), the public security was still quite good. As I returned over several years, I was informed to be careful at night, although that did not stop me from enjoying the nightlife, which I find far better, than anywhere else in the world. Also, nowhere can you eat as well for your money and your tastebuds than in Bp! Talk to locals, and ask where THEY go and eat, those are the best joints! There is a shuttle service for the statuepark from Deak Ter, fairly cheap and includes entrance as well. It was incredible for me to see them at my 1st return, since I remembered most at their original location. For public transportation, you can get a weekly pass or a 3-day pass, very convenient, just as the frequency of transportation, by far THE BEST in the world! FYI. You can easily talk English to locals in their 20s, 30s. Older generations tend to speak German.

(Report Problem)well, i've been living here since i was born, and i must tell you i've never met any pickpocket yet. maybe i was just simplky lucky. i think budapest must be a great experience for tourists. of course it's not Paris or London, but the best is that it's not too big, not too small, and in the city centre the public transport is great, but if you want to walk, it's okay too. there are some streets made exactly for the toursits (váci street for example, castle district), but if you want to experience the real lifestyle of Pest you should just simply have a walk in the city centre, or go out at night, there are some really great bars and pubs... but be careful, in some places (restaurants, bars, etc.) the waiters may try to get as much money from you as they can. so take care, but don't be afraid, we're just the same as anyone in the world.
