I am from Athens and i am very pleased to see that most of the reviews on this site are positive. Athens is a city that is appreciated by the people who know how to have a good time. For all the others, maybe you should try a 'nice package holiday' that doesn't require for you to go anywhere outside your hotel. Athens is a city that has Muslim, European, ancient Greek and Arab influences. You could be in Exarhia dancing the night away with rock tunes, in Monastiraki eating in a taverna and watching belly dancers, in Plaka listening to rembetika or Vouliagmeni in a club 'to be seen' just on the beach... The food is excellent and the prices quiet reasonable for what you get and please, let's just not forget the greek spirit measures... Athens it's a clean city. We've got no pollution. We used to in the 80's but not anymore. The city is clean and the transportation excellent, especially after the Olympic Games. We have a brand new Metro system which expands more and more, a brand new tram system which links the whole city and let's not forget our airport which is the most technologically advanced in Europe at the moment. Athens is a city for people with a heart, who admire and appreciate the fact that most of us live in 'free- speech' countries thanks to the Greeks!

I think that athens was the best place I've ever been to.I liked the atmosphere and the sights. But I also liked the people, they were too kind with us and willing to answer all the questions we have done! Just visit Greece and you'll see...

Athens is the first place i visited on my when i was in europe. Athens is very beutiful in certain areas, especially at night when the Acropolis is lit up. I stayed near the plaka, and that was truly an experience i will never forget. It was so much fun. The city has a lot to offer historically. I would recomend when touring, that you take a bus tour. Athenians are crazy drivers. I would definatly go to greece again, however I'll probably just visit the charming islands.

I loved how everyone there is so lovely, they treat you with respect and love to know everything there is about America. The language is wonderufl it seems so pure everytime someone spoke to me!

Greece is wonderful. Athens is great capital city and the Athenians are very nice and welcome people. We had a realy good time staying at the "Hotel Rio Athens",a grate 3 star hotel,in the citycenter during the OLYMPICS last August for 3 weeks and one week on the islands,Mykonos and Santorini.It was fantastic.IT IS REALY THE LAND OF GODS.We go back AGAIN. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU THIS INCREDIBLE CITY AND COUNTRY

Greece is wonderful. The people are very friendly and hospitable and the food, well its incredible. The most popular place to go will be crowded and dirty but thats how a big and busy city is like, it not very dirty. Athens and the islnad are a must see. Have a good time and be open minded to the way that the people live there and to expect it to be like home cause its different and probably its more than home.

Neat to see the Acropolis, but very dirty. Avoid Oxoria and Exharia at all costs. The place feels unsafe and really has nothing to see. We stayed in a hostel in this area, but I wouldn't recommend going through area to stay at it. The North and West train stations are separate and most commercial maps leave out the Western station as it is on the city outskirts, last I heard they were building a new one to join them together, or something. I suggest that you limit your time in Athens and spend more time in Thessaloniki or in smaller areas or on islands.

i love greece, because it's a wonderfall state. all the people there have a heart. the food is very very good when you want to eat fast food you must go to Goody'S and when you want to go to wonderful greek restaurant and ect. you must go to plaka. the nightlive is so wonderful in greece that's the best of the world. when you like greek music, house, r'n'b,rock,pop,hip hop, latin it's all there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
