Plenty of history, but dirty & seedy

Plenty of tourist sites to see, more than you could see in a single vist, and all well worth a visit. Avoid at all costs being invited to 'come visit my bar' - it's not a 'bar', it's a brothel! And it can't have just been where I visited, unless the pathway leading to the Acropolis is part of the red light district during the day... Or syndagma square, or Omonia square... Kind of a spoiler.

The buzz of Athens

What a great place to be, if you like busy, lively, buzzing cities. Athens is the true 24/7 city, compared to some other cities that are claimed to be like that, London for example. A lot of historical and ancient sight seeings, lots of bars, cafes, restaurants, clubs and so on... The people - probably the friendliest and most easy going creatures on earth, do not agitate or insult them though, they will make you into a suvlaki and have you for dinner.

A great city with a unique mix of the modern and the acient

If you want to visit a city that combines both the old and the new in a great chaotic harmony then you have to visit Athens. Excellent night life, great places to eat, loads to do. And getting around is a treat, just ride the Athens Metro, and discover a world of shiny marble and ancient artefacts. A journey on the Athens Metros is a journey through the history of Athens it self.

Anthens twice over

Resteraunt staff have a low level of service and the traffic in the center is a nightmare. The new infrastructure built for the Olympics is underutilised and does not help if you want to see the main City. Archeological sites seem to be everywhere but after a while they all look the same.

A Great place

There are no words to describe Athens. You have to get there to see it for yourself. Don't miss the Acropolis, the Plaka District and the Kolonaki area for shopping and bars. I also had the chance to go to the northern suburb of Kifissia (highly recommended).

SO much fun!

I loved seeing all the historical sites and I also loved shopping in all the little stores! They have really cute and original purses!
