Husband and myself have just spent 3 days in Paris, lovely place and so interesting, my dissapointment was that we would have had to stand in line for about 3 hours to get on the Eiffel Tower as there were what seemed like 10,000 people there(good view across Paris from the Galleriies Lafayette terrace, bus route yellow) also the Notre Dame was so crowded. The open top tourist buses are wonderful, get a 2 day pass and get on and off whenever you feel like it,50 stops, also if the vernicular railway at the Sacre Coeur is broken (as it was) get the little train outside the Pigalle Theatre it takes you right up to the top or else it is lots of steps. Finally if I has known that Euorostar was so easy we would have gone years ago and from Ashford it takes about 2 hrs and you are only in the tunnel for 20 minutes, we will definately go again, we stayed in the Opera district which was lovely, take good walking shoes though. Beware lots of beggars and dog poo!!!!!!!!

(Report Problem)People who say paris is expensive make the mistake of eating at tourist places it is better to visit louvre or such places then go for something to eat elsewhere food is not expensive in paris but as a tourist city people want to sell things more expensive in front of main tourist attractions.

(Report Problem)The people are the same as anyplace you go .Try and speak or even just greet the people you meet in there tounge and the will be most corteous .They will go out of ther way to assist you.I have been many times starting from a long weekend to a 3 week stay.Best area to book is central and on some small side street with small local cafe's as that is where the locals will dine and meet.No mater where you hail from there are watering holes where you can meet people from your country if you wish but go out and meet the locals that is the holiday. Paris is a mesmirising city the sights to see many free you do not need te enter them to enjoy .But do climg the Sacre ceur do go up the E.tower do go on the River but take the Boata Bus Cheaper and more convenient . Most of all if on a ROMANTIC BREAK dine on a River Cruse

(Report Problem)No-one can fail to love a place if you make a tiny part of it your home. I was lucky enough to stay first of all near the Luxembourg gardens at the Odeon. Each time I return to the same area ( hostels at 20 euros a night, flights from Manchester for £60))and widen my day's circle, frequenting old haunts like Shakespeare and Co and eating in the Greek quarter while exploring and learning a little more of its history each time: reading of Sartre and de Beauvoir in St Germaine, visiting the markets in rue Mouffetard, observing Foucault's pendulum in the Pantheon and discovering new tables in old corners to sit and sip and just be - in Paris. 'To be woken up by kisses on a blue sky Paris morning. Ask me what bliss is: this is.' L.E.

(Report Problem)well your reviewers certainly span from loving it to despising it. the truth about this city lies somewhere in between. yes the paris people are often rude and curiously backward by modern standards yet others are charming and wonderfully eccentric. spending the last 10 days in paris my wife and i have experienced all the extremes this city has to offfer. there is one thing however that is timeless, that is the sheer physical beauty of the city itself. it really has no equals in this respect. perfect it may not be but it will always fascinate us nonetheless.

(Report Problem)This is one of the finest little bistro's I've visitedin paris, complete with handsome waiters who balance knives on their noses. For an illustrated review, look at www.badaude.typepad.com - an artist's website which really gives the atmosphere of the place!

(Report Problem)I've been to Paris once, in 2004 and it's been the best time of my life. Of course, I can't compare it to Hollywood in anyway, historically and architecturally it has nothing to do with our Californian city, but I did meet famous French people! I was in the Musee d'Orsay when a conference just ended, there were policemen and photographs everywhere. I stuck around with some other visitors, all of us being a bit curious to find out what was the occasion. After a few young girls came out of the door, a huge crowd of visitor flooded toward them to ask them for autographs, and, I don't know what went through my mind but I followed them and got autographs too!!! Everybody was pushing me around but it was kinda fun, and I got autographs from two of the young girls! One of them was called Athina Roussel, and I later found out she was a 19 year-old billionaire! Wow. The other one was called Laure Madonna and was apparently a French socialite. My girlfriend took a picture of me while I was next to them! It doesn't make me famous but, oh well, it's good enough of a story to tell!
