Go to Marseille and get robbed before you find your hotel...

Me and my girlfriend arrived in Marseille on the 31st of December by car. When we were looking for our hotel (the Ibis Centre Bourse) on the same street we stopped for pedestrians to cross and a guy opened the car door and took my girlfriendīs purse with our passports, money, cards and mobiles... When we arrived at the police station the first thing the policemen said after we explained what happened was: "Welcome to Marseille, this is very common and happens every day you are never goig to see that purse or those documents again..." We finished the police report and left the city...

2nd day here and already want to leave, crappy place, dirty smelly, non friendly and all they eat is crappy fish food....... god get me some chicken someone if you have a choice..... choose not to come here

i will never return to marseille

AS OUR PARTY GOT OUT OF THE TAXI, WE HAD BEEN TARGETED BY 2 YOUTHS ON A SCOOTER. WHO CAME UP AT THE BACK OF MY MOTHER WHO IS 61, PUSHED HER OFF HER FEET ,THEN GRABBED HER BAG AND WENT THE WRONG WAY UP A ONE WAY STREET. IN TOTAL GOT AWAY WITH OVER Ģ1200. WHEN WE REPORTED IT TO THE POLICE, THEY WERE AMAZED WE DID NOT KNOW THAT THIS IS A VERY BIG ISSUE OUT THERE, AND THAT TOURIST'S ARE TARGETED EVERY DAY. WE HAVE TRAVELLED ALL OVER THE WORLD AND HAVE NEVER BEEN ANYWHERE THAT FELT SO UNSAFE. AS WELL AS THIS IT IS A VERY POOR AND DIRTY CITY. EVERYONE IS ON EDGE THERE.

what a place!

i went to Marseille as a school trip and i loved it. there are many educational places to visit and there are quite alot of cafes and restaurants for you to test your language skills as well as get something to eat! the weather is always lovely and warm, i would recommend this resort to anyone and everyone.

Great for: History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Family Holidays

Mediocre

Thought this would be a nice place to go for a cheap sunny holiday which is what we got, but got a lot of dirty streets and sewerage smells too. Being two blonde girls we got a lot of stares and we stood out like a sore thumb, but other than that it was relaxing. Would I return ??? nope!

marseille is great

it is wonderful with the weather and the architectures, the beaches, the around sides there are lots of museums, parks and facilities. the only problems are the public transport
