As my boyfriend's parents live just outside of Cannes, we are quite frequent visitors. I love the place. The weather is always great, the food and wine is fantastic and well priced, the scenery is beautiful and the shopping is brilliant as there is a great variety of shops, from high street to designer. There are plently of restaurants to choose from and you dont have to pay a fortune a get superb meal. There seems to be an air of old style glamour about the place and the cafes are great for watching the well dressed locals go about their day. I would certainly recommend to visit to Cannes, whether its for a lond weekend or longer, you cant help but come home relaxed and hopefully a little bronzed. I would live there if I could!

(Report Problem)Sure, Cannes can be pricey and crowded during major tourist attractions. As someone who lives near-by, I know there's plenty of it to enjoy if you're willing to walk a bit and know where to go. Here are my favorites: *** Head for the Place du Suquet in the medieval part of town. The narrow paved Rue du Suquet give you a taste of Cannes as it was, but the road will take you down toards Rue Forville to the covered Marché Forville and its assortment of fresh vegetables, herbs, meats, cheeses and flowers. *** Climb the gentle stairs towards to Rue Louis Perrissol to the Church of Notre-Dame Esperance, builts starting in the 16th century. Its square tower clock overlooks the city below. Head under the tower to the Place du Castre for a panoramic view of the port, the Croisette, the Islands of Lérins at the edge of the bay. This is one of the best spots for a bird's eye view of Cannes. *** Walk along the palm-lined Croisette seaside boulevard and feel the palatial presence of the croisette Grandes Dames of the hotels such as the Majestic, the Hilton, the Carlton, the Martinez. Count the Ferraris and Rolls-Royces pass on by. *** For shopping, Rue d'Antibes, Rue Hoche, Rue Meynadier are the classics. The streets line up with smaller boutiques selling clothes, shoes, boucheries/butchers, boulangeries, provençal tablecloths, jewelry, all busy and vibrant. *** Trains practically drop you off downtown (walk 2 blocks from train station to Rue d'Antibes) and trains to east to Nice or west to St Raphael are frequent and on-time; buses are not all that convenient here. *** If you'd enjoy a fun and gently irreverent peak into Cannes, from a canine perspective, take a look at my posts on Cannes on azuralive.com Cheers, AzurAlive.com

(Report Problem)A lovely and friendly town. Fantastic for clothes shopping if you have the money. Very pretty people everywhere and a great atmosphere. Lots and lots of restaurants, bars and also casinos. A place not to miss.

(Report Problem)After spending much of my time in dreary London town, Cannes was a beautiful escape. Surprisingly, the savvy traveler can well afford a stay in Cannes. My hotel was located two blocks from the beach, comfortable, affordable, and operated by a transplanted englishman (great for those of us who speak about 5 seconds of French). The restaurants and bakeries rival any in Paris. The city streets and board walk are well suited for tourists and beach-bound pedestrians. And, make sure to stop by the "English Bookstore" for beach reading material. You won't regret a minute spent in this beautiful little ocean side city.
