We really liked Bordeaux, all the people were friendly and greet you as you walk into the shops. There is a clean and punctual tram system to get around on, great if your hotel is near one of the 3 lines it runs on. (our's wasn't unfortunately!). It is very cheap to buy food in the supermarkets but expensive overall to eat and drink out. Soft drinks especially are very expensive in the bars. Beware if you don't speak any French at all, not many people there speak English, we managed to get by on the few phrases that we knew in the shops and that.
Great for: History/Culture, Theatre/Music
