A place you'll never forget and for good reasons

Helsinki. everything is easy to get to, everyone is willing to help if you ask. Also 90% of the locals speak english if you get stuck. The atmosphere is so relaxed and everyone is so polite. i loved everything about Helsinki and im going back next year.

Great for: Skiing/Snowboarding, Hiking/Camping, History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife, Budget Travel

Super chilled, and super cool

Beautiful, spotless, cultured city. Not as pricey as you'de imgine, but not cheap by any means, overall it is a fantastic place whether you prefer a modern sophisticated city, or a place filled with history. Locals are welcoming, food is hearty. For winter sports fans check out Talma, as small ski/boarding slope only half an hour out of town.

Different

Helsinki is like no other city which I have visited. Compact, with impressive architecture of all styles. Great open and covered markets by the harbour (try the fried fish stalls). Beautiful coastline, many islands which may be visited or viewed by ferries. Make use of the Helsinki card to give free travel within the city and free entry to many museums or the visitors travel card for free public transport.

Returning for my 5th trip

Great public transportation and alot of english speaking Finns. The summer solstice, sun is until well into the evening. Small but amazing city with alot of history The night life is there but public transportation becomes limited past 11pm. Tough part to deal with is the exchange rate Euro v. Dollar all over Europe.

Helsink,pearl of Finland

Marvellous place to visit in summer.I liked very much open market and boat cruises.City has excellent stores for shopping.i loved duty free in the shops,I found very comfortable and luxary hotels to stay with good cuisine.Smoked fish[muiku,salmon and hili siika] in town centre and Finnish cheese were the best.People were friendly and helpful.Helsinki is my favourite destination and i am planning a trip again.If Finland is a jewel Helsinki is most shining jewel of it.

Best Trip Ever!

We stayed in dowtown Helsinki at one of the nicer hotels, but everything is within walking distance no matter where you stay downtown. Went for several weeks in the summer and one week in winter. Great nightlife! beautiful people. very talkative too given Fins have a reputation of being quiet and solom. Amazing hustle and bustle in the downtown core both during the day and at night. Most people speak english and are very friendly. Tons to see and do, great museams, art, religious attractions. The nightlife is great, wodnerful pubs, posh lounges, wild nightlcubs..... majestic sceanery and nature. Helsinki has something for everyone!
