Me and my partner have just got back from a three day break in Prague. Good points excellent food could not fault it, very good public transport system and beautiful architectural buildings and monuments in and around Charles Bridge. Now for the bad points!! We have travelled all over the world and have never met such a miserable people. They must be the rudest and most unhelpful people we have ever met. We were quite amazed how expensive everything was except for the food. Don't even bother shopping here in any of the shopping centres you will pay at least double on most of the tat available. We found that most of the time all we did was walk and walk and walk so make sure you take comfortable shoes with you and yes we also used all the local transport available except for the taxis we were told not to use them because they rip you off. We found three days felt more like three weeks. If you need help with directions etc only ask the younger generation the older people don't have a clue. The grafitti in the town is everywhere and I mean everywhere there must be a shop there making a fortune on spray cans!! Apart from the attractions in and around Prague the place is a dump and over rated. We will definately not be visiting this place ever again.

(Report Problem)Shocked to read bad reviews on this wonderful city. All I can sayis judge it for yourself. Breathtaking beauty in the castle, the old town, Charles bridge and the jewish quarter. Very upbeat in Wenceslas Square (feels like you're in Oxford Street. Believe it or not we got around all the must see sights in 3 days. You must make good use of the very cheap local transport. Save your legs and see it all. My hot tip is you do as we did and purchase a 3-4 day transport ticket as soon as you have landed and picked up your luggage. Head for the information kiosk (they speak good English and are really polite). This ticket cost 2 of us around £11. It was used the whole time including to and from the airport - no need for expensive taxis. You just punch it as soon as you board any transport and keep it safe (like a passport) until you go home. It can be used on the underground metro, trams & buses all for one price. Good luck and just enjoy skipping around the sights. Its a refreshing breeze at a small cost.

(Report Problem)Just back from a four day break in Prague. Transport system excellent, most eating houses excellent. If you need to ask a question about anything, God help you! I have travelled quite a bit and have met ignorant people, but the residents of Prague (with a few exceptions) are the most ignorant unhelpful people i have ever met. I,m sure the Russians were glad to leave. To be honest the touts outside the clubs were not too bad. They said about two or three words and then moved on to the next person. The arcitecture is magnificent but after two days it became a bore. Be prepared for aching legs if you are not used to walking. Moving round the different attractions involves a lot of walking. I am amazed at the ammount of visitors this city gets. If they continue with their obnoxious ways it is only a matter of time before it becomes a ghost town. If you really need to ask a question make sure the person is aged under twenty years old. They are usually helpful.

(Report Problem)Public transport is very good and cheap. Take the tram to tour the city: you will see the most of its spectacular views.

(Report Problem)I was there 1 month ago. It was amazing. I bought cheap ticket and cheap hotel. I knew I was not going to stay in the hotel. Just breakfast and sleep that's it. I took many pictures and videos. Buildings and their architecture amazed me. When it comes to people, thay were very friendly on the street. Whoever we asked questions about directions, they were answered. Even the ones who did not know English tried to help us. I just want to point out one thing is that the hotel receptionist girl was not very kind and seemed not knowing anything about her city. One day few guys from England came and started asking questions about city to the receotionist girl, she could not answer them. I was sitting there and offered help. I showed them what to do and where to go on their first day: ) I was really happy to be there. I won't forget the beauty of the city. If you want to see my pictures visit my blog. (Report Problem)I had such high expectations of Prague before I got there. About how romantic it is there and how great a place it was. Ok I'll will grant it is a romantic City.....but I have never ever felt so unwelcomed in any place before. The hotel staff were rude, the restuarant staff were rude, the bar staff were rude, shop staff were rude, even people you wanted to ask for directions on the street were rude. There was no level of service at all, I dont think its even in their dictionary! The impression i felt whenever i went into a place whether it be a shop or restuarant was "oh no!not ANOTHER customer", like they just couldnt be bothered to serve you and that you should go somewhere else so they wouldnt have to work up the major effort to serve you. I was offering them my money and yet I felt like I was doing something wrong. Another thing that never seems to be mentioned on other reviews is how frustrating it is to be hassled by the strip club leeches that roam every bit of the central streets trying to make you go into their strip club.....how romantic hey? No it wasnt. I certainly will never be returning back to this City....not even if you offered to pay for my ticket.

(Report Problem)I had such great expectations about Prague before I got there. Everyone kept on ranting about how romantic and lovely it was etc etc. I will let Prague have the romantic bit (to a certain extent - architecture/river/bridges were lovely but the constant leeching/nagging from countless strip club street-staff were not romantic at all and extremely anoying to say the least), but I have never ever felt so unwelcomed in any City before! The shop keepers are rude, the restuarant staff are rude, Hotel staff are rude, bar staff are rude and even people who you try to ask for directions on the street are rude. All the businesses act as if they'd rather not have your money and feels like they are trying to persuade you to take your money elsewhere. The City itself is indeed beautiful, but let down enormously but the local people in it. I will never go back again, even if was free travel and accomodation and all expenses paid.

(Report Problem)the Wenceslas Square area. Stayed in Northern Mala Strana which was beautiful. Lots of character and great pubs, cafes etc. A lot of tourisits there obvioulsy but a lot of the character has remained....unlike Wenceslas which was full of stags (nothing against them of course but not what Prague should be about in my mind). Just be careful if booking with partner as I did which area you stay...otherwise spot on.

(Report Problem)A great break for 3-4 days. The most beautiful buildings in Europe. The most breathtaking architecture. People friendly, prices fair, public transport efficient and 'tourist-friendly'. Definitely recommended.
