If you dont go, you are missing out on something special

five stars

This is my favorite city in Europe. So much history, so much culture, too much to see and experience in a short time. I am going back for my 5th time in 7 years. Private tours are worth the extra money due to the attention and knowledge the tour guides provide instead of being in a crowd of tourists. They also know the off-beaten restraunts and bars that locals like to dine at. The food is amazingly good and cheap, but the city itself has become more expensive with lodging being your biggest expense. Here is a hint - visit the Church of the Baby Jesus and have a tour guide ask if they can take you into the catacombs to view the mummies they unearthed a few years ago. Very interesting. Also, dont miss out on the Jewish Quarter. Regardless of if you are Jewish or not, it is one of the most interesting historical areas in Europe as it was to be the museum for the fallen race during Hitler's regime. I cant even begin to tell you how much you will enjoy a trip to this magical city. Watch out for the pickpockets on the Charles Bridge and in Old Town Square. Also, ask to go to a discotech rather than a nightclub, which means a brothel in Europe (and there are plenty of those in Prague).

Try it once

three stars

I have always heard great reports of prague but have to say i was disappointed when compared to plenty of other european cities :( it is easy and cheap to get to prague and there are certainly some lovely things to see. no question that it is a picture perfect city. however, tourism is well on the way to taking over... i didn't really think the "go-go" bars and authentic irish pubs aimed at drunken stag revellers add much to the cultural appeal of the city! shopping was a bit dismal as well. if attractive photos or cheap beer are the only aim of your travels prague will probably suit you. we stayed at miss sophie's which was cheap, cool & particularly fabulous (and nonsmoking as well)... www.miss-sophies.com

Praha

five stars

I studied there for a semester. While in Europe I got to visit some of the most beautiful cities in the world. However, none compared the Prague. It's not as well known as Rome or Paris but it's easily there equal. Prague is unlike any of the other cities with it's dark gothic churches and warm pubs. In a way it's rather surreal and Tim Burton-esque.

Best for 2 days.

four stars

I flew with British Airways from London to Prague airport, and then took the 119 bus into the city. I then went into Prague Castle, which is fantastic, the cathderal has lots of stain glass, and you get a great view of the city from just outside the castle. There is also a great bridge with about 20 different statues of religious figures. The main square on the other side of the river has lots of colorful buildings. I also when to the mini eiffel tower, it was a long walk and the view you get isn't that much better than from the castle. Also the mirror maze is a waste of money as it only takes you 10 minutes to get through it! Everything is supercheap here with full dinners available at $4! And there is plently of crystal shops around selling everything from glasses to jewellery.
