(Report Problem)Prague is a beautiful city. The only major flaw is that almost everyone else has discovered it as well. My visit will be remembered firstly for the sheer number of tourists and secondly for the fantastic scenery. My advice, go off season or wait till the buzz has died down a bit.

(Report Problem)This was my 2nd trip to Prague, but my first was on a work conference, so didn't get to see much of it. What can I say? Prague is magical. Everything about our trip, from the people, to the food, to the architecture. Amazing! It has to be one of the friendliest places I have ever been; with locals going out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Prague Castle is a must visit. The views from up there, over the city are breath-taking; and while you're up there, sample the infamous 'Goulash'. Mouthwatering! Travel throughout the city is so easy(and cheap), whether you choose to use their modern underground system, trams or just your feet. Make sure you find a nice absinth bar, where again you will helpful/courteous staff in a traditional Czech atmosphere, where you will have a fantastic evening. If clubbing is your thing, there are also some incredible clubs, which get VERY busy at weekends, you should go clubbing, Czech style! We went for 5 days and it really wasn't enough and are planning a trip again soon. (Tip: If you go during the winter, Prague is VERY cold. Take WARM clothes), but in May it was glorious. Warm enough to sunbathe in the parks or while you're drifting on a boat along the river , by Charles Bridge. If you're wondering if you will like Prague you will!! Book today!

(Report Problem)As has been said in other reviews, this is one of the most stunning cities I have ever been too, the parks are stunning (I went in October when the leaves were changing colour) One of the city walking tours are a must, they guide you around the city, transporting you through time. From the Old Jewish quater to the history of the river and castle (surely count Dracula must have help with the architecture!) so gothic and romantic at the same time. A visit across the Charlies Bridge to make a wish at the brass etching depicting St Wenslyast being thrown out of the window and his faithful hound waiting beside the fire has to be on your list of must do's. as the wish really does come true, mine did. Also the little houses on the other side of the river just looks like Lilliput. The shops are bursting with lovely things, glass is one of their biggest export, you will find beautiful peices. The restaurants are wonderful, we found fabulous fish restaurants were the food was wonderful. People are friendly and all speak English. Definately a place for that culture/romantic weekend you have always promised yourself.

(Report Problem)My hubby and I visited Prague in early January 2005. The place was covered in snow and it was very cold. This did not detract from a beautiful and magical city that looked just like a fairytale picture book with the snow covered turrets and trees. We walked miles and miles in the snow with the sun shining. The food was good winter fayre and very reasonable although I think the prices are rising steadily with the Euro and the increased tourist trade. You could still eat a 3 course meal with wine for about £15-20 for two. Sitting in the main town square underneath the astronomical clock, under the patio heaters on the terrace of the cafe, drinking coffee watching the world go by was one of our more restful moments. The rest of the times were spent walking. We stayed outside of the main area and found a fairly cheap small hotel - worth the twenty minute stroll at the end of the day.

(Report Problem)Just a few tips - most other points are covered in other reviews. On arrival at the airport buy a seven day travel ticket from the airport travel desk. (about 7£ UK - 15$ US). This covers all buses, trains, underground travel and trams. Catch a 119 bus at terminal and use your ticket for transport to city centre. (Better than 40$ US by taxi!!!). At 10am every morning look for the woman/man with a big ryellow umbrella under the astronomical clock in old town square. Pay 1000 Krowns (40$ US for a great value day - walking tour of city centre, boat trip with beer/soft drink included, 3 course meal in modest restaurant with beer or wine, scenic tram trip and walk around the castle. The tour ends up on Charles Bridge after a great and enjoyable day - you even get a comlimentary ticket for the evening "Ghost Walking tour" of central Prague. On another evening at about 7pm again join up with the yellow umbrella crown and enjoy the guided "pub crawl". It costs abput 15$ US (20 Krowns) and includes four pints of beer!!!!. Have fun - not long before I am out there again.

(Report Problem)I love the narrow cobbled streets, the tea-houses (usually much quieter than the cafes) and the old churches, many of which have concerts during the evening. The service in Cafes is slow and relaxed. They are not being rude it is the culture here to allow you time to settle so allow plenty of time for meal times. Most cafe staff speak some English Italian, French, German and Russian but they appreciate an effort from you to speak Czech even if it's only thank you. The people are friendly and one nice touch is that if you are old or injured, people will give up their seat on a Bus Tram or Metro so that you can sit down. It does rain a lot in Prague so bring something waterproof and the centre is pedestrianised so take comfortable shoes. If you get tired there are plenty of benches to sit down on or Cycle taxis to take you to your next destination. The Public transport is excellent but if you are caught without a ticket there is a heavy on the spot fine so buy a ticket. In the summer particularly there are teams of pick pockets working the city and you are particularly vulnerable near the doors of a metro train or tram. So keep your valuables safe and bring a photocopy of the picture page of your Passport ( the one with all the and leave the real thing at the hotel). There are so many attractions in Prague it is impossible to see them in a weekend

(Report Problem)Having just organised a surprise visit for our husbands we were not disappointed. Prague is a beautiful city steeped in culture with fantastic architecture. We stayed at the Seven Days Hotel which was just a short walk from the main attractions. The hotel was spotless and very reasonably priced. Walking shoes are a must especially if you visit the Castle and the Cathedral, not for the faint hearted. The Charles bridge is beautiful and the views breathtaking. The local cuisine is wonderful and I can thoroughly recommend the Goulash, or even a Mulled Wine overlooking the Square with an Apple Strudel. This is one of the best short breaks we have taken and puts our Valentine trip to New York last year to shame. The locals are friendly here!!

(Report Problem)I went to a Christmas market in Prague 2 years ago. It was really interesting. I especially enjoyed eating out at the different bars and restaurants - very good value for money! The people are very friendly and helpful. One word of warning - beware of pickpockets on the trams. Especially the number 22 as this is the one where most of it happens!.
