Brilliant place...only downside was....

four stars

the Wenceslas Square area. Stayed in Northern Mala Strana which was beautiful. Lots of character and great pubs, cafes etc. A lot of tourisits there obvioulsy but a lot of the character has remained....unlike Wenceslas which was full of stags (nothing against them of course but not what Prague should be about in my mind). Just be careful if booking with partner as I did which area you stay...otherwise spot on.

Wonderful & Unique

five stars

A great break for 3-4 days. The most beautiful buildings in Europe. The most breathtaking architecture. People friendly, prices fair, public transport efficient and 'tourist-friendly'. Definitely recommended.

NOT RECCOMMENDED

two stars

never experienced a holiday like this before anywhere in the world. I have never felt the urge to write a review before about anything but such was the bad experience over there that I thought Id warn other people. The level of service be it in a restaurant, bar or shop is the worst ive ever come across! The locals are so rude and have such a bad attitude to their jobs. they have gota be the most grumpy people in the world! everywhere we went we experienced it so it definitely was not a one off. Most of the food we ate was really salty although there were a couple of really nice places for food. Its a shame because the city is really beuatiful and interesting but the people just ruin it! didnt come across any pickpocketers and in general felt really safe wherever we went. it was just the service, absolutely dismal. was meant to go holiday to enjoy and get rid of stress. but in the end i accumulated more stress over there and was bloody excited and relieved to get back to England!

RUBBISH

two stars

2nd visit to Prague.Thought i would give it another try but once again found all the local shopkeepers and bar owners are happy to take your money but have never taught there staff any manners or how to be polite.I understand that they would be sick of all the tourist but does that not mean you can be rude to people and expect more people to visit. Beautiful city but rude people.

Too touristy

two stars

Everyone raves about Prague so I thought I'd visit and was really excited. Arriving at the ectremely dingy and dilapidated main station was the first comedown. The second was the local people who are obviously sick to death of tourists and aren't friendly at all, the town has no atmosphere at all. The third was the tourists - absolutely everywhere was jam packed, like Florence. The architecture is nice and there's some interesting museums and galleries but apart from that I really don't know what the fuss is about with Prague.

Be Carefull in this beautifull City

three stars

Prague is a stunningly beutifull place in most areas, but be carefull. Always be aware you are being watched, especially if you are a tourist, Money changers are everywhere, especially near legitimet change kiosks, they give you Polish currency in exchange for your Sterling. Never travel on a crowded tram, especially No, 23. the Pickpocket express, someone engages you in conversation, and his friend dips your pocket, The days are wonderful, with lots to see, but the darkness of Prague hides a lot. Prague is an Experience, not to be missed, but once was enough for me and I have travelled the world, The Hilights of Prague wre the Castle and the Technical Museum, which has a coal mine underneath the mueum. Happy holiday, but be carefull

Perfect for a long weekend sightseeing

four stars

We visited all the districts and the best was where we stayed in Old Town. Really beautiful. There was a large variety of restaurents to cater for all budgets, easy to read menus, good food and great service. A must is walking over Charles Bridge, seeing the changing of the guards at the castle at midday, going up the observation tower and seeing the town hall clock when it chimes. Not so great is the endless tourist shops selling really tatty gifts. Try Dr Stuarts Botanicus shop and Pinoccios wooden toys just off the old town square for quality gifts. Was a great place for a short break.
