(Report Problem)Having been to many cities in the world, manila, philippines i shoud say is a growing mixed filipino-western city that caters to all its visitors' taste to make their stay memorable. it's a city that thrives and retains its captivating beauty in the midst of the brutal corruption of society, people uniting to topple unruly leaders...brave and patriotic they are and able to stand on their ground so then there will be peace around protecting a truly pearl of the orient!!! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas, i love u Philippines no matter what negative things media says about you...

(Report Problem)i was born in the philippines but have lived in uk since puberty. my husband is british and he didn't know what to expect when he first visited the country. both of us didn't really like manila coz of the traffic but aside from that, nothing really negative to comment about it. in shops, they always go for my husband instead of me and that drove him mad coz it happens although he'd jwalked in. never mind! but..........the countrysideand the beaches, can't fault it even if some were a bit over crowded with tourists. great value for money and nicer atmosphere for sure. when in manila, can't miss going to greenbelt...........absolutely lovely place and restaurants serve goergous food, yummy.......my husband's been 5x already and he still likes it and we had our wedding in manila! he adores diving in cebu, bohol and boracay.

(Report Problem)I went there with my colleagues on a sale training in 2003. Like other cities in Asia, where you can see both modern bulding area and slum area. I dont like food there. Unlike we thought at the beginning, there are hundreds of stripping bar with very cute and sexy dancers. The city is quite big we spent hours for travelling from this area to other area. Shopping centers in Manila are huge and very busy all the time. My office is on the 55th floor of a busines building where i can view all the areas of the city from the height. It looks very nice at the nite time. I definitely will come back to Manila in the future.

(Report Problem)WOW, this is a great place to visit, the people are probably the best in the world. the beaches, shopping, natural history, sunset, lakes, volcanoes, and a lot more. cant wait to go back there again. Manila has a lot to offer, you wont waste time coz theres a lot to see. The nightlife is comparable to the west, maybe even better,Cheap prices too! - GO AND EXPERIENCE THE PEARL OF THE ORIENT - I LOVE IT !

(Report Problem)The cities and islands are nice, and most of the people are friendly. But drivers there have no clue how to be a defensive driver, they drive like they own the whole road! They come up just about to the back bumper of the vehicle in front of them. Most of the drivers don't obey traffic laws. They cross over the double yellow lines, etc. The drivers there are very bad! I'll tell you this, if they drove like that here, they'd get their driver's license revoked faster than they could blink an eye! Other than that, the beaches were beautiful, especially the sunsets.

(Report Problem)I lived just south of Manila for 4 years. We went to Manila at least once/week. Like every place on earth, it is what you make it. Be aware that as in all big cities pickpocketing is something that you have to be keep in mind as you travel the crouded places. Always walk and ride with your backpack on your front instead of at your back or you might find that you will be a bit litter upon your return home. Manila streets were developed when there weren't as many vehicals. The PI government is still trying to fix this so be aware that trafic might be a problem. It is best to travel on the LRT or MRT (shuttle-trains) or by taxi (however if you travel by taxi make sure that the drive starts his meter and don't let him up the price from what it says - most are honest but there are a few who see foreigners and think $). The Philippines is a wonderful place to travel. Bring empty suitcases and go shopping!!! You will find dress shirts (in the US $20 and up) for only $5 or less (conversion), shoes for $2.50 or less (quality), etc. You will be able to buy all of the clothes you need from any SM (stands for "Shoe Mart" but is really like a Sears - a department store set in a mall). Visit Mega Mall and Glorietta (both very large malls). Just for fun try riding the jeepney, tricycle, or FX. The people are usually very very friendly and you will enjoy yourselves! Travel smart and have fun!
