I used to live in Osaka, and the greeting there is "Mokari-makka?" to which the answer is "Bochi-bochi den na." "You makin' any money?" "Here and there..." Any foreigner who can do this correctly will become an instant star with the populace. Of course, in Osaka, that's not a hard thing to do, because the people are naturally friendly. In Tokyo, you can get a cold shoulder from someone for just asking the time. Don't forget what Osaka is famous for: food. Okonami-yaki, Takoyaki, Tonkotsu ramen, Unagi, they all taste great, and the prices are cheaper, too. In fact, why don't you just spend all your time in the Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto/Nara area? You'll enjoy it more!
