Overall

I spent a week here after spending a week in Delhi. What a contrast. I was immediately impressed with Beijing as being a cosmopolitan city that can meet the needs of anyone. The people are friendly and make an attempt to accomodate English speakers, although you will likely only find English spoken with confidence in businesses and the hotels that cater to visitors. Walking the streets during the day is definitely not an issue in most areas. At night does not appear to be a problem, but traveling with more than one person is probably safer. Definitely worth the visit. I would definitely come back.
