Hott Tomaleh

three stars

I think that you could have put in more options of places to go and more spicy foods. I love spicyfoods!!! They are the totally best thing that I have ever had! Even though you did mention some of the key things there could be more important things that you could mention such as spicy foods...ect...

I'll be back

three stars

I have been in Caracas more than 15 times in the last 10 years and I love it. The city have some of the best restaurants in South America. There is something to do at any time, but you want to go out with a local because it can be very dangerous. It helps to know some spanish. The city has gone thru real hard times with the new government and you can see that on the streets. Still I'd go there any time.

Caracas not on my mind...

three stars

If you like big cities, danger and more danger... Caracas is a wonderful place to visit. I have been there a few times and you can not help but look over your shoulder most of the time. I have known friends who have been gang jumped there in the middle of the afternoon with 100's of people watching offering no help. I also know a lady who had her purse sliced with a razor blade while walking down the street by someone behind here in attempt to get her purse to empty out on the street so they could steal the contents. Venezuela however is a beautiful country once you get outside of Caracas. I have spent a great deal of time traveling around this country and can not wait for my next trip. I get in and out of Caracas as quickly as I can. You should do the same. Venezuela offers so many things, you should not waste your time and safety in this city.

Experienced Travelers Only

two stars

There are many parks, plazas and attractions to visit. Transportation by taxi is inexpensive. The metro bus and subway are clean, safe, functional and practically free. The new Teleferrico to the top of Mount Avila provides a spectacular view of Caracas and Caribbean Sea. Hatillo has a nice plaza with shops and restaurants with a quaint country atmosphere. Las Mercedes has many nice shops and restaurants and is a bit more uptown. Generally the tourist areas are secure, however when traveling througout the city there are areas that are dangerous, especially at night. Many of the better hotels are in areas where you do not want to be on the streets at night. The pollution from cars in the city can be overwhelming. Some basic spanish is highly recommended.

A great destination

five stars

I spent a month in Caracas a few years ago and had a fabulous time. It is a beautiful city with a rich history and great food. There wasn't a ton of touristy stuff to do, but we found things to do. We visited some of the parks, went to the big mall and explored the city. I never felt unsafe and I don't speak much spanish. I would go back in an instant.
