i lived in peru for the past six months for most of that time i was in lima is the worst place i have ever been too to much red tape the police are corrupt and i would get mugged every day.stay out of calloa and san martin de porres very unsafe there. the nice places are mira florres and san borja. but to be honest most of south america are corrupt and dangerous. oh one two things there is so much pollution there u will get sick if stay there for a month or more. and there are 14 million people there i dont care what guide book says but there that many poeple there so if u dont like crowds stay away and go to cusco.

(Report Problem)I've visited over 30 countries and Lima, Peru is by far the worst place I have ever spent time in. While there are some positives (the food and shopping), the negatives far outweigh the good. The locals are miserable, passive-aggressive people with no respect for themselves or others. Something is seriously wrong with Lima, especially during the 9 months of the year when it's cloudy. Save your money - don't bother visiting.

(Report Problem)YOU MUST VISIT CHURCHES/ MUSEUMS/ ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES/BEACHES/ MODERN LIMA CITY (MIRAFLORES, SAN ISIDRO). LIMA MARRIOT IS AN EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY. GREAT PLACE TO BUY CLOTHES/LEATHER PRODUCTS/ SILVER/GOLD. THE BEST FOOD ON EARTH. YOU MUST TRY THE PERUVIAN-CHINESSE FOOD "CHIFA". IT'S DELICIOUS AND THE PERUVIAN FOOD IS THE BEST. DON'T BUY ANY FOOD IN THE STREET. GO TO RESTAURANTS TO EAT. GET A TOUR FROM THE USA. LAN CHILE/PERU IS AN EXCELLENT AIRLINES. THE BEST IN MY OPINION. ONCE IN LIMA YOU MUST GO TO HUARAZ(BY BUS)IT WILL REMIND YOU OF THE BEAUTIFUL ALPS IN EUROPE. YOU MUST ALSO GO TO THE AMAZON (TARAPOTO)/CUSCO AND THE SACRED VALLEY/ PARACAS / NASCA LINES / AREQUIPA AND THE COLCA VALLEY / MANCORA IN NORTHERN PERU/ CHAN_CHAN/ EL SENOR DE SIPAN IN NORTHERN PERU. WHILE IN CUZCO YOU MUST STAY IN THE 4 STAR HOTELS SUCH AS "CUZCO HOTEL" IT IS WONDERFUL. WHILE IN MACCHU PICCHU STAY IN THE HOTEL AT THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN. DO NOT RENT A CAR IN LIMA. TRAFFIC IS HEAVY LIKE SAN FRANCISCO DOWNTOWN. THE BEST TIME TO GO TO LIMA IS IN THE SUMMER (JANUARY TO MARCH). THE BEST TIME TO GO TO CUZCO IS MAY-JULY. HAVE FUN. PEOPLE ARE VERY NICE.
