Probably the Best City in the WORLD

WOW, what a city, its surely 24 hours. Such a lively place to have some great nightlife, also great beaches to relax and soak up the sun. Truely a magnificant city, with lots of friendly people and also great shopping too.

Great for: Beaches, Scuba/Snorkeling, History/Culture, Nightlife

it was very fun. i liked the women on the beaches. i also liked the clubs. they are almost as fun as ours here in Milwaukee

fiesta de mardi gra

I find riodejaneiro similarity to san diego like the coronado bridge to the bridge of brazil and some other parts similiar contrast to things in el paso like mardi gra and tramways.mt cristo rey similiar to statue of christ in brazil. from el paso. Ive seen rio de janiero in movie films is that the way it is.

lifetime vacation

Most beautiful city in the world. Nice and friendly people, great and cheap food. Excellent subway (now it goes until Copacabana. Avoid downtown on weekends (itīs like downtown LA, only offices, thefore empty streets on weekends)

Ready to party like a King or Queen

Some friends and I decided to take a guys trip. We wanted to see of course pretty women and be on or near a beach. After some talk where to go it came down to Brazil. We did not know we would get more than we asked for, which was great!!!! We all felt like Kings there from the locals. Women we did get to see. Beach we did get to see. But we didn't know that where we stayed would be so great to gt to everything. Food, shopping, attractions was easy to get to by take the city bus. With you don't like fast drive watch out then. Everyone there drive like a bat out of hell LOL. Men if you are not Married RUN FLY JUMP or do whatever GO to RIO like yesterday. Women if like to be a queen just sit on the beach and watch out. HAVE FUN I know I did.

Worth every penny

It is indeed one of the most beautiful cities in the world.They were able to combine buildings/progress, and yet preserve the natural beauty that surrounds that city.The people are very friendly and the food is absolutely amazing!Depending where you go, you can really get your money's worth.As far as crime...well...every big city in the world is about the same.Just use your common sense. But there's more to Brazil than Rio. You really need to explore the northeast part of the country.Much more affordable,cleaner,less dangerous and gourgeous beaches. Ever heard of Porto De Galinhas and Fernando de Noronha?Warm crystal clear waters....You gotta go there too.

Overrated-Go to Mexico

I spent a week there in June traveling with my in-laws who have been there several times. We stayed with family there so we didn't worry to much about lodging. The climate is a lot like Miami, hot all the time. The beaches are overrated. The ocean water is cold and sewer drains into the swimming water. So don't swim too often in the water. The sand is nice but there are too many bums trying to sell you crap on the beach. Mosquitos were in full force out there. Bring "Off" with you. I noticed that were very few people who spoke English and if you didn't have a translater you would get discouraged. My wife spoke Portugese but I could see getting frustrated if I didn't have her around. Rio is a very dirty city. Right after we got off the plane you could smell the sewer treatment plant that is near the airport. Thanks to the humidity, you can smell everything in the air good or bad. If you are looking for a nice beach than travel about 2 hours East to Cabo Frio. It has the type of beaches you see in Corona commercials. I guess it might be better during Carnival but it can't be that much better. You also don't feel very safe. Don't take any valuable jewelry with you.
