This is a modern vibrant country with sun & fresh healthy food in abundance

five stars

I loved everything about Sydney, from it's tax system, health system to it's polotics, healthy low cost fresh food in abundance, sun sand & sea. The public transport is mainly by Ferry but it also has buses trains & mono rails. The weather & the architecture of both the traditional colonial style homes & the city itself is so refreshingly different from U.K. I found the people both friendly & tolerant of tourists. Frankly, I deeply regret not moving there when my children (and myself) were younger. It seems like Paradise compared to life in the UK. It's obvious why life expectancy is so much higher & people & both happier & healthier.

I loved everything about Sydney - the people - the beaches - it was all awsome . We stayed on Bondi beach at Noahs Hostel - the city is only a bus ride away I can't recommend it enough - did not want to come home!

Amaaaaaazing!!

five stars

I aboloutly adored Sydney! I wasn't really that excited to go but it is as fantastic as people say. The plane journey was effortless even for me who is scared of planes. I definatly suggest doing the bridge climb which was breath taking and got some great photos, even if you are scared of heights I guarantee it will cure you. I thought it was amazing how one minute you were in the quiet rocks area, then a few minutes later in the hustle and bustle of city life and the next on a beach. Highly recommend Sydney for anyone of any age.

Great for: Beaches, Scuba/Snorkeling, Hiking/Camping, History/Culture, Nightlife, Family Holidays

IS NOT A PLACE TO VISIT JUST ONCE

four stars

Where do I start? It was everything we thought it would be and so much more. Do not let the lengthy flight time put you off - somethings are better waiting for. Visited for the full month of March 2005, didnt leave NSW and STILL didnt get to do everything we wanted to do. We stayed in Manly, what a gorgeous place, just a jetcat or ferry ride from Circular Quay, amazing, but with a more relaxed atmosphere, simply beautiful beaches, a great beach for surf and Shelly beach a short walk round they bay, a sheltered child friendly beach with calm swimming watters and the nicest people. Manly has lots of great bars and restaurants, a weekend market, cinema, and is a great place to start from to travel up the northern beaches - right up to Palm Beach (Summer Bay) In Sydney, dont miss the bridge climb, the views are amazing and its well worth the climb! Visit Doyles chip shop, im Scottish, but they were fab! Bondi beach - great sight to see but soooo big, not my idea of relaxing by the sea! Shopping was good but who wants to visit a mall when you can do that at home? Am planning to visit again and will def stay in Manly - as they say in Manly - 7 miles from Sydney, 1000 miles from care!

Great for: Beaches, Scuba/Snorkeling, Nightlife, Budget Travel

SYDNEY IS SO BAD....... UNDER MY ESTIMATION AGAIN!!!!

one star

Sydney, from everyone's ears, is a great city with good culture. But after visting, i think the city is very hollow that you will be really bored if u just walk around the city, shopping malls are loacted seperately from one to each other, hard to find. Taxi drivers are rude somehow, CANNOT COMPARE WITH HONG KONG & NEW YORK CITY. one of the worse cities that i have visted in my entire life!

One of the best holiday destinations for a Winter break

five stars

There's something very special about spending Xmas and New Year in sunny Sydney. There's everything you could want for Xmas and New Year celebrations plus the bonus of great weather. Great choice of accomodation, bars, restaurants, beaches, shopping and to top it off one of the best New Year celebrations anywhere in the world. Sydney has a great atmosphere and if you're lucky you can also catch a great day at the cricket at the SCG in the New Year test. Worth the 20 hour flight and you can even enjoy a minimum of 10 days in the city with more then enough to keep you busy and it will keep you hungry for more.

NEVER VISIT SYDNEY!!!

one star

I had the unfortunate experience of living in Sydney. Although it is quite a beautiful city, the people are horrible, nothing is open till late, and the city-life itself is exceedingly boring. Most of all, the people of this city are extremely racist! DO NOT, for the love of GOD, go to Sydney! I recommend the Gold Coast or even Brisbane. Much more beautiful - people included!
