Sydney is amazing. It is absolutely beautiful from harbour to beaches. There is so much to do in this cosmo City - Darling Harbour is a must see with a huge selection of bars, rustaurants and shops. The harbour at Circular Quay is also a jewel not to be missed. Sydney also hosts some of the best nightclubs I have ever been to. I would say that Sydney is one of the worlds greatest cities. The beaches are great too!

(Report Problem)I cannot rate Sydney highly enough after spending three months living in the city. The centre is compact, clean and easily navigable with the Opera House, Bridge, Darling Harbour, CBD and various parks all within walking distance of each other. A short walk from the centre sees bohemian areas such as Paddington, lively Kings Cross or the relaxed atmosphere of Glebe all of which feel safe and inviting (although you would be wise to avoid Darlinghurst Road in Kings Cross if you're of a weak disposition!). North Sydney has some of the best beaches in the harbour, places such as Balmoral can provide much needed respite from the often hectic (and much over-rated) Bondi. Newtown offers great bars and restaurants away from the often overpriced tourists traps around 'the rocks' area, and 24 hour bars such as the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel allow you to sample a real taste of Sydney alongside the Sydneysiders. Sydney, like any big city has its problems of course, the pointless monorail that goes nowhere anyone wants to, the taxi drivers that don't know where anywhere is, - however the subway system is easy to negotiate and the walkability of the city often negate the need for public transport at all. There is much more to this place than just a bridge and a concert hall.

(Report Problem)There are so many things to do in Sydney! I would suggest a whole weekend, and even then, it would be packed with things to do. Hostels are relatively cheap, and as long as you are staying in a safer part of town (look for things close to town hall, cbd (central business district), the harbour you will be fine. For those inexperienced at travelling, stay away from Kings Cross, it is DEFINITELY not an area to take children or to stay in at night! Make it a point to go down to Sydney Harbour (you can easily get there by travelling the train system and purchasing a city loop ticket). Sydney Harbour will be on the Circular Quay stop and from there you can behold the Opera House and The Sydney Harbour Bridge. For those who are adventurous, try and schedule a Bridge Climb. It is pretty expensive, 185-300 AUD depending on when you go, but it is so worth the experience. (You must make a reservation beforehand.) Spend time looking through the shops and eat in a cafe in the harbour. Take a tour of the Opera house, it is breathatking. Town hall is a great area to shop, in and around Sydney. For a relaxing afternoon, why don't you spend some time down at the Harbour. There is plenty of shopping, outdoor venues, an IMAX, museums,a casino, the Sydney aquarium to keep you occupied for the entire day! It is a family friendly atmosphere and easy to get too from the Town Hall stop on the subway. If you are around the entire weekend, make sure you stop at Paddy's Market, which is down a bit from the Harbour. It is a gigantic market and the cheapest place around to get souveniers but is only open certain days. Follow the signs downtown and you will most certainly be able to find it and enjoy yourself...but bring cash, it's a Cash only market! If you are in need of a sporting event or have an interest to check out some of Sydneys awesome sporting venues, make your way to Sydney Olympic Park (purchase a ticket to get there, it isn't included in your city circle pass!) Lidcombe is the stop you'll need, and is a short little journey to Sydney Olympic Park home of the 2000 Olympic Games. It is an exciting place with plenty to see and lots of memories to relive. Most of the venues will require some sort of entrance fee for a tour, but it makes for a great day to just hang around the park or check out a footie game at night. (If you bring your swimmers, you can even swim in the olympic pools for a small fee!) All in all Sydney is an excellent place for dining, shopping, and sightseeing. I didn't even BEGIN to describe the clubs and nightlife, but take one look around the city at dusk, and you'll know where all the party places are :)

(Report Problem)The transit system was great in Sydney and most of the drivers were very friendly. The sights were awesome and the habour was fantastic. Being from the states, I was disappointed with the food choices. It seemed that the only reasonable places to eat were either fast food or asian. We did however, finally find Hard Rock Cafe and ate there just about every day.
