Review of Jacksonhole

four stars

Working in Wyoming for the summer gave me an oppurtunity to visit Jackson Hole a few times. Its a fun tourist town with tons of stuff to entertain you. Plus downtown is very acessable on foot, but a car is a necessity if you plan on going farther then downtown. Every building is made of wood or stone. And its home to the only escalator (its broken) in WY. Very old fashoned feeling and the locals are really really friendly. Maybe its because I am from such a large city but complete strangers will talk with you for half an hour and help you out from the kindness of there heart, which I found really weird. Very busy in the summer time, late september/october is prob. the best time to go for good hotel rates and good weather, if you go much later be prepared for snow.

Best in the West

five stars

The best thing about Jackson is of course the scenary. I lived there for a summer and its amazing everyday you wake up. The town has great transportation and everything is within a reasonable distance. Snow King is a great workout with great views once you get to the top. Everyone is so friendly and seems to love the environment. Three places I recommend to eat are Billy's Giant Hamburgers (one of a kind establishment) and Sweetwater Restaurant (great meals and people, also one of a kind) and Pica's is great for a burrito, chips and homemade salsa and even a margarita. The square is wonderful to relax and read a book or just people watch and the hiking, biking, and skiing are talked about by almost everyone who lives there. Bagel Jax!--don't forget Bagel Jax! If you are a fan of anything bagel then Bagel Jax is the place to start the morning off right. Don't worry about what you eat because you are bound to be outside all day long. Try a float down Flat Creek from Dairy Queen to Smith's get a tire inflated at Big O Tires and you're ready to go just watch out for shallowness and rocks. Check out Teton Village a Tram ride and maybe a concert at the Mangy Moose. The Tetons! and Yellowstone! two beautiful National Parks are a must, look for Sleeping Indian. Go to Jenny Lake and hike see the Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. The Wildlife you can't miss it, it's all around you.

O give me a home...

five stars

Gorgeous scenery, a ton of outdoorsy activities, unfortunately its almost impossible to do on a budget. Camp outside town and bike into Jackson for lunch and coffee at Betty Rock or breakfast at Jedediah's. Bike up Teton Pass and try to avoid the RV's for a good workout. Drive to Yellowstone for a day trip, if you can stand the traffic.

Teton Scenery

five stars

Loved Jackson Hole-the elk herds, the square, the silver dollar bar with its saddle bar stools, the scenery and a little sandwich shop called the Bunnery. I camped an hr. out of town (with deer around the camp)and hiked and we fly fished. Great week!

Great Western Ski Town

five stars

The skiing is great. The scenery is spectacular. The restaurants are good. The town is charming and cozy. It is not too far from Yellowstone. And it still has a laid back western feel. I used to ski Aspen every year. It has gotten too crowded. Jackson Hole is the place for me. And, did I mention that it had excellent skiing?
