If you know where you are going... it's great! The traffic can be horrible usually no matter what time of the day. But it's bearable. Astroworld was great... but they closed it down :'( But the food is good. I'd say go to the Spegetti Warehouse downtown. Parking might be high, but I personally think it's worth it. If you don't mind a little bit of traveling, I'd suggest you go SouthEast of Houston to Pearland, Texas and eat at Ruby's. The best Chinese food I have EVER had. It's family own and operated.

(Report Problem)We have family members that live in Houston. We visit them whenever we have a chance, and there is always something new and exciting going on. The only problem that we have found with it is getting around the city. It is large and spread out, and there is not much in the way of public transportation. However, one can never get bored with the food choices and the night life.
Great for: History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife, Budget Travel, Family Holidays

(Report Problem)Houston is a very big place. Although there is a lot to offer as jobs and family oriented places are concerned, Houston can also become your worst nightmare. The major arteries in and out of the town are always pact to the limit, and always under construction. The freeways and streets here are built on what the population is now not in 10 years so you can see what the problem is. It takes 1 ½ hours to cross 20 miles of (60 mph) streets, yeah not a great early morning site!!! Downtown is a great place to work and hang out. The completion of the NEW METRO RAIL makes traveling a breeze, as well as the newly renovated tunnels after Allison in 2002. The outlaying suburbs and small towns are a great place to raise a family and send the kids to school. New development of north and east Houston is getting the beltway on it was to be completed. Over all, if you look over the top of the smog and city traffic noise, the town is pretty great to live. But you have to come and see for your self!!!

(Report Problem)A horrible cesspool of traffic, construction and rude little people. It is nothing more than a collection of fast food franchises and industry.

(Report Problem)I have always liked my travels to the state especially the bright lights and country living of Houston. Of course as we let society dictate, with big comes danger and crime; The ecomnomy professionals don't help much with overseas transfers of jobs and local stability all for the sake of a DOLLAR!
