Houston, it's not all that
I live in houston and its not somewhere I would be eager to vacation at. It definately might be a place where you might want to visit once, but that's all. The traffic is horrible, there's construction in every part of the city, the weather is nasty, and there aren't many sites here.

If you like waiting in lines everywhere you go, you will love houston. If you are a homeless sympathizer, you will find them on every sidewalk, street intersection, park and store giving you thousands of opportunities to shell out some spare change. I you like other people telling you whats good for you, you will hug this mayor [B.WHITE] for telling you can't smoke, business owners how to run thier stores, you once had 48 hrs to move your stalled car from the safety of the emergency lane on the freeway and now you have 5 minutes or it's towed. consequently, 2 people have died becuase of this awesome law of seizing your property [car] without a warrent. HOUSTON - IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

Houston has to rank as one of the least attractive large cities in the US. The traffic is horrendous, the downtown is a ghost town, the weather is humid beyond belief. It is just one strip shopping center after another with some generic houses thrown in to help fill up the space. Basically, it is a paved swamp lacking any saving graces. The locals think that the Galleria Mall is the epitome of class and urban living. Yes the mall is big, but a mall is a mall. Unlike other large cities such as Boston, NY, Chicago there is no downtown shopping not even a the basic GAP! But what downtown does have is 20 story abandoned buildings surrounded by chain link fence, potholes, homeless people and tunnels to take you underground so you do not have to see the dismal streetscape. Save your money skip Houston.

Very fun city with loads to do!!! People are very friendl;y and accomodating. Amazingly, this city is very inexpensive for being so cosmoplitan!

Wow, where to start? Houston is not a city, its a whole nation! This city is so huge!!! And you can see this when flying into the airport. Including all the surrounding cities, Houston can be a 3 hour drive of nothing but stuff!!! Thats without traffic, one of Houston's drawbacks, but this comes with any large city. Houston is very alive! With new construction going on everywhere, and a revitalized downtown, Houston is the next big thing in the U.S. You get the feeling that you are somewhere important because of all the buzz and people around you. Very Diverse city. Houston also has a wonderful climate! It is Febuary right now and I just got back home from a nice ride in the convertible with the top down, yes the top down, in beautiful mid 70 degree weather! No need to go to california, + the people here are great!!! Some of the friendliest people you will meet, which really gives you that sense that you belong, and feel at home. I love Houston!!!

I like everything, I have lived in Houston for almost 5 years and for me Hosuton, excuse me, let me put it in capital letter, HOUSTON is the best City Worldwide. HOUSTON has everithing, good food, discos, restaurants and the most important point, the most wonderfull people I have never met.

Lets get the only two cons out of the way. Traffic is horrendous during rush hour but can be bad a lot of the day and it is dreadfully hot in the summer. Temperatures rarely go over 100 but humidity is almost always over 95% which makes a 90 degree temperature feel like 110. However, it is the most air conditioned city in the world and if you avoid being out in the middle of the day you should be just fine. From dining to nightlife to family activities, houston has just about everything any major city I have ever been in. Beaches are a relatively short drive away (in Texas, distances are all relative), the theater district is hard to match and the museum district is top notch and could be pitted against even the most prestigious cities in the world. Memorial and Hermann parks are large parks within the city limits that offer everything for a family to do. The zoo offers a great variety of rare and common animals. From sports to theme parks to shopping and dining, Houston pretty much handles it all with class and pride. People are highly friendly and you will find yourself able to ask just about anyone where you are and where things are.
