I have been a lot of places and lived in many of them including NYC, which I love, but Houston is the best city in the world. I met more caring and nice people there in a week than I have in St. Louis (where I currently live) in a year. The food is awesome, the malls are great, downtown is amazing and the entertainment scene is one of the best in the country. My only problem is the traffic, which any large city has a problem with. I can tell anyone though-I've been to many cities in the US including Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas, but Houston beats them in every aspect. Great city, great people, great time.

(Report Problem)I really love Houston. I've visited three times, and It's become my favorite vacation spot. You can shop til you drop....and then shop some more. Check out the Galleria! It's fab!!! Also whatever food you're in the mood for...Houston's got it all! You have to check out the ball game at MinuteMaid stadium,The Astros is the best!!!!! Just the atmosphere itself is worth everything. Try also to take a trip to San Antonio (sea world is a vacation on its own) and Galveston...where you can lay on the beach..and let your toes feel the warmth of the water from the mexican gulf. I really love Houston..I can't wait to get back there!!!!!!

(Report Problem)For those who want to have a very predictable life, Houston is your place. Coming from Austin, TX (which should be another state by itself), Houston is simply another big and polluted metropolis. Houston is known for having plenty of shopping malls and restaurants. Most (if not all) activities are indoor. The Memorial Park is small if you consider it is the park for a city of more than 4 million people. The NASA attraction is fine, but as a one time shot. I would recommend visiting the musseum district of downtown, which has a very nice variety of exhibits. Again, Houston is a city for indoor activities. The stadiums are great, if you like the game, it is also a place to consider. Traffic in Houston is terrible and because they are working on the expansion of their Interstate system (I-10, I-45 and 610 loop) traffic it is even worst (updated as of March 2005). So be prepared to spend part of your day inside your car while driving around Houston. All in all, Houston is a place I would not consider as my main destination for a relaxing vacation.

(Report Problem)What a disappointment. The downtown seems to be more for working than for having fun. We had a hard time even finding a decent place to eat that was open, and the whole downtown core seemed to be deserted. We ventured out to the 'museum district' which seems like the suburbs, and we basically had to walk through the ghetto to get there! Nothing like NYC where getting there is half the fun and filled with diversions along the way. When we got to the Galleria, we realized that's where everyone is, but as someone else said, yes, it's a big mall, but it's just that. I've been to other cities in Texas and would recommend Austin or San Antonio over Houston any day.

(Report Problem)I loved everything about Houston. The traffic and lack of public transportation was a little annoying. The food was fantastic. Houston has one of the nicest airport terminals I have ever been in (Terminal E). And the overall presentation of the airport was a spectacular first impression. I could walk around downtown Houston for days it was so much fun to see all the great architecture. There are quite a few homeless, but what city doesn't. Don't get mad at them help them. As for this tow policy...I like it. I had a friend who was killed by a truck driver who fell asleep at the wheel while my friend was changing out a blownout tire on the shoulder of a busy freeway. If the ordinance works then who's to say that the city might actually be saving a life. It's kinda hard to realize something is good if it is always there doing its job to prevent the bad from happening. Anyhow if there weren't a place called Miami I would definately live in Houston. I DO THINK THE WORLD OF THIS CITY.
