We love New York!

five stars

New York is an exciting and entertaining place to go. Felt very safe. There were police on almost every corner. They were friendly and helpful The subway is economical and efficient. Great variety of things to eat. The only bad experience we had was the Sheraton Hotel in Manhattan. The room they gave us was a dump. We asked for another room and the receptionist was very rude.

Fun City

five stars

Visiting the city before I moved here made me feel totally overwhelmed and off-kilter - there was just too much of everything. Having lived here for a while, I've found a couple of things invaluable - pick up the "Not For Tourists Guide To Manhattan" (available at most Universal News shops and bookstores in town) - it's a little book that parses the city down into a series of grids, complete with maps and landmarks and how to get around in each - REALLY. Second, remember this: streets run west-east and the numbers go up as you move north - avenues go north-south and the numbers go up as you move west - Broadway, south of Midtown is more or less the middle (it makes sense when you look at a map). Lastly, New Yorkers are not rude, just brusque - whatever you need to know, we're happy to tell you, just cut to the chase - AND, if you need to stop on the sidewalk and get your bearings, don't do it in the middle, move towards a building and hang out there - we'll love you for it.

should visit this place

four stars

Love the restaurants, shopping, and sites, however, I couldn't help but feel a little stifled at times.

A beautiful City

five stars

My favorite things to do were: Traveling on the train; Site seeing; The Bronx zoo; Rockerfeller Center. The best area to stay is in Manhattan. It is more convenient to get to points of interest from this Borough. Avoiding panhandlers and homeless people will be in your best interest. Do not act lost even if you are. Go to the proper people for information, not just any one on the street. Be alert and New York City will be a great experience. There is a lot to do, you will have to make another trip here. It is a big City.

See New York City first

five stars

New York City is a bastion of inclusiveness, as well as a world class center for education and the arts. And the United Nations headquarters is in New York City. If the terrorists take out New York City, I don't want to be around for the aftermath of that.

TOPS!!!

five stars

NY was great. It truly is the best city on the planet. I enjoyed the sites, sounds, and the people were so nice. It is very expensive so save a lot before you go.

THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE BEING IN NEW YORK CITY AND SEEING THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING. AND IT DON'T GET FUN UNTIL YOU EAT AT A HARD ROCK CAFE. THE PLACE IS SO AWESOME TO BE IN.

Get the "know" from the "natives"

four stars

Anyone who tells you there is no culture in NYC obviously didn't know where to look. Of course, being a former native, I had a distinct advantage. Lots of places and things are very pricey, but if you know how/where to look, there a plenty of attractions to see that are no or low cost. My suggestion, go into chat rooms and talk up some native New Yorkers. They know all the best deals, sights, and tastes. And they won't tell you silly things like "don't walk on the streets".
