Love this city. Not as safe as most travelers would like it to be. Exciting things to do. Would love to go back soon.

(Report Problem)I love NYC. I go there to shop till I drop! New York is great for fun people that seek new adventures, not for people that go on vacation to relax, please don't go to NYC to relax, you'll be missing out on so many things! It's a very exciting city, you'll never be bored! Night live is as fun as day time.

(Report Problem)When I was told I would have to visit NYC for business, I was thrilled. When I was told I would have to go twice in one month, I was even more excited. The first time I took my husband with me and the second time my best friend came with me. People in New York were very friendly. When there was something on the seat in the subway, a man gave me a napkin (without me asking) to wipe the seat off. A woman saw I was looking at a map and helped me. The subway is the best way to get around the city. It is cheap and pretty easy to navigate. I never felt unsafe on the subway. We visited the Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center Site, Empire State Building, and Central Park. If you buy your tickets to the Statue Of Liberty online, buy the tour that is the first one of the day. There are no lines then. You can also buy your tickets to the Empire State Building online and avoid that line. There are all of these little delis you can eat at that are relatively inexpensive. Times Square is great at night. We stayed at the Travel Inn which was inexpensive, but not bad. Go to China Town. You can buy purses and sunglasses and eat great food. I absolutely loved New York.

(Report Problem)I love New York City!!! Best place I've ever been to!! So much to do!! Great restraunts!!!(best pizza and cheesecake!) Unbelievable shopping, Entertainment, I can just go on and on. The empire State building is awesome! the only sad thing is the twin towers not there. I've been there before and after the 9-11 incident. I just loved seeing those two towers from a distance in the skyline! Friendly people, the only way of travel is primarily by cab or walking. Its a bit crowded on the streets to drive. I highly reccomend goin to NYC it is a fun filled adventure!!

(Report Problem)I went to NYC for spring break with my college friends! I know it isn’t a typical spring break destination, but we got so much more out of a big city than going to Florida or Cancun like our other friends did. March was surprisingly and thankfully warm. If it had been any colder though, the trip may have been miserable. When visiting New York you will have to and want to walk around all the great neighborhoods. In just a few days we went through places like Soho, Greenwich Village, Little Italy, China Town, Times Square, Central Park, Fifth Avenue, Wall Street, South Street Seaport. We saw sights like the World Trade Center site, Wall Street Bull, New York Stock Exchange, Trinity Church, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Museum of Art. If you are visiting New York for the first time, try and see all of these places while you are there to get a feel for Manhattan. The coolest thing we did was see the opera at the Lincoln Center. It was fun to get dressed up and go to the MET, and opera is surprisingly entertaining (every seat has its own subtitle screen behind it). Tickets run between $100-$250 but with a student ID it is only $25! You would get a lot more out of something like this, than you would for a $50 broadway show that you could probably see at home anyway. We took the subway everywhere, which was a little difficult at first, but we got the hang of things after a while. It isn’t the most easy subway system to use that I have been on. Definitely pick up a map of the city and of the subway system and plan efficiently what you want to do that day before you head out into the city. Never before have I been to city so seemingly safe in the US before. My friends and I had stayed out really late, took the subway everywhere, and went off the tourist path and NEVER got approached by a street person. They were there, but they don’t bother you at all. As a student, we were on a limited budget and it was difficult to stay within that budget. The subway may be cheaper than taxis but even that was costly. Lots of great retailers (one on every corner) but few have sales racks, and restaurants comparable to ones back home cost 30% more. Cigarettes were $7 a pack! We were smart though to stay in Hoboken, NJ. It is kind of a new yuppie neighborhood for college grads who work in the city. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars here, much cheaper, smoker friendly, no tourists, and a little less stringent on certain laws (college students know what I’m talking about). The PATH train commute to Manhattan was only a few minutes too, and we avoided the $20 per hour parking garages in the city. The city isn’t any dirtier than other big cities, but be prepared to have a lot of dirt under your finger nails at the end of the day.
