I explored the Kebun Raya Eka Karya early in the morning April 7, 2002. It is situated in the mountain region Bedugul on Bali Island.I particularly enjoyed the avenue of Tree Ferns, Cyathea sp., and the very tall primitive ferns, Angiopteris erecta. The cactus and orchid collections are very impressive, the former housed in old fashion glasshouses and the latter all outdoor either on trees or in open ground. The traditional Medicinal Plant Collection takes up land winding up the slopes under tall trees that provide protection for gingers such as Zingiber cassumunan and Nicolaia speciosa. The several giant sculptures in front of the garden of Indonesian mythological creatures are really impressive. In the late afternoon, you can see the mist rolling down from the mountain behind these statues and it is magical.
