You line up outside, watch the lame performances of the fake gladiators as you wait in the 90 degree sun, get talked into joining a tour group, and can never find a good angle for decent pictures. There is very little to nothing to see inside the Colloseum. It looks just like you think it would, very old, very broken. There is awesome history to be learned from a good tour guide (who by the way can skip you to the front of the line if you hook up with one before standing around all day). Everyone who is in Rome should go, just don't expect to be in awe or see anything that really looks like it was awe-worthy in the past.
