Dont go
Not good food. Starter was re-heated Machi Kebab and the carrot dressing around was clearly cut the day before. Popadoms were stale. Then the bill - more expensive than any other restaurant the week we were there. Waitress was helpful but other than that forget it. I wish I had complained at the time but didnt want to ruin our night out.

I know most of the Indian restaurants in rome and the quality has improved over the last few years. Most are adequate, some good, some like Maharajah are very good, but you can't beat Surya Mahal. The food is the best I've eaten there and being located right beside the Tiber in the middle of Trastevere in its own garden...any other restaurant would use that alone as an excuse to sky rocket the prices but Surya Mahal's prices are comparable and even better than many other Indian restaurants. If you are in Rome, it is well worth trying out.
Great for: Romantic Dining, Groups, Outdoor Seating
