Tashkent is a marvel for those interested in history. It is interesting to see the modern Soviet buildings surrounded by bedouin-esque markets and beautiful mosques which seem hundreds of years old. What was particularly memorable was talking with the locals about their lifestyles and how they have changed since the fall of the USSR. (I am quite intrugued with Russian history.) It is the perfect place to venture to in order to grasp a better understanding of a different culture.
