Getting Bigger & Better

five stars

This place offers new & surprising things to do each year. They're constantly building prestige projects made to attract more tourists & Emirates is a great airline to get you there! Stay in the city for shopping, dining and nightlife, but keep in mind there are great beach resorts & desert safaris outside of Dubai.

Love This City

five stars

Absolutly loved Dubai. Shopping is great value for Europeans. Beaches are wonderful..try the Beach Parks Al Mamzar and Jumeirah, public, clean, good facilities and lots of space. go on the abra boat across the Creek, visit the museum and see old Dubai. Shopping in Deira City shopping centre is great. Karrama is fantastic for "genuine fakes " in clothing, handbags etc.Tall buildings are beautiful here take the Big Bus Tour

It was aGREAT place

four stars

Well, it was my first time traveling out of the states and what an experience it was. I was in Dubai for a whole month and I wish I didn’t have to leave. One of the best things I liked about it was the variety of malls, and especially men’s clothing (much better than the U.S). I have to admit, the first place I stayed wasn’t that great. I stayed at the Pacifica Hotel. For the price of $70.00 pre-night for two, it wasn’t worth it. However, there were plenty of shops to spend, spend, spend your money lol. I do suggest that you try the all you can eat restaurant on the forth floor in the Twin Tower building. The cost is 30.00 AED per-person, which comes out to be $8.00 USD. You will also find good food and lots of shops at the City Center mall and if you are looking to find the top of the line makers of men and women’s clothing and fine jewelry, I suggest Wafi Mall. If you are looking to safe money on a decent place to stay, let me suggest the Al Mamzat Tower, Hot Apartments. Tel 971-4-2972921. At this place you pay per night and NOT per-person. And if you let them know that you are planning on staying for ten night or more you can get a 5 or 10% discount as long as you pay all up-front. I would stay there again and most likely will when I go back. I would also suggest for entrepreneur this would be a GREAT place to look for opportunity….I did. I will also admit, I was a bit scared on my safety when I first arrived (do to all that is happening in the Middle East today), but I found it to be quite safe. Well I hope this helped, and don’t pay any attention to the one bad article titled “Thank God I left” everyone can always experience a bad time anywhere. Oh, and be ready to travel by taxi, it is much quicker unless your rent a car. And the best time to go is from December to February, it is the cooler months. And if you are looking to buy a LOT of stuff and want to save BIG, go during the middle of January to the middle of February, cuz all of Dubai shops have a humongous sale.

One of the best places in the world!

five stars

It's really hard to know where to start... First, it's probably a MUST that you stay on Jumeirah Beach. This beach is on the Arabian Gulf (synonymous with the Persian Gulf). The water is as clear as the Caribbean. Absolutely beautiful. Though beware about staying too far down the beach...near the Sheraton and Hilton there's A LOT of construction going on and the beach isn't nearly as beautiful. We stayed at the Al Qasr at the Madinat Jumeirah which was simply phenomenal. Rates were cut almost in half due to Ramadan (would highly recommend going at this time!) and we had amazing views of the Burj-al-Arab (it's right next door). We felt we were treated like royalty from the second we got out of the cab. There was so much attention to detail whether it was in the lobby or in the guest rooms. They had a shuttle to the Creek, Jumeirah Mosque, Souqs, etc. Secondly, the desert safari is great! It's kind of a touristy thing to do but well worth it! They take you out to the desert (about 6-7 people in a vehicle) and you go dune bashing in the 4x4 on the sand dunes, you go out to an oasis where there are hookahs, camels to ride, a belly dancer, a Mediterranean BBQ and lots of other people to chat with. Next, the souqs are great to check out. The spice souqs, in my mind, were the best. SO many spices, so cheap. And remember to make a deal!! The textile souqs and gold souqs are also not to be missed. A few other things that have to be done... A tour to the Jumeirah Mosque. This is a great way to learn about Islam. I had a taxi driver take me out to see more camels. I highly recommend this! He gave me my own personal tour. He talked people who worked on the farms into letting me ride the camels. He got on as well which is a wise idea...otherwise it would be VERY easy to fall off. It's a lot harder/scarier than it looks! Also, you WILL smell like a camel after it's all over. Just a warning! :) The restaurants and bars are fantastic! Any type of cuisine imaginable. Cool, hip bars and clubs. Attire is not conservative at all. I wore the same type of clothes to go out there as I do in San Francisco. Other tips: a visa wasn't needed for entry to the UAE; I did read in several sources that you wouldn't be admitted in if you have an Israel passport stamp in your passport--would probably want to check this out before going if you've been to Israel; airport and it's Duty-Free were amazing--extremely new and modern Things to buy while over there: gold, spices, textiles (e.g. Pashmina shawls, slipper shoes), Arabian artifacts, hookahs and flavored tobacco

I'm plannig another visit!!

four stars

I spent almost three weeks in Dubai and enjoyed every moment of it. I received great service everywhere I went. There is a relaxing atmosphere which a turist from Europe would really appreciate. Dubai is an extremely safe place and has beautiful and very clean beaches. If you also like shopping Dubai is the place to visit.
