(Report Problem)Family short break. Stopped in city hotel. Great shopping, beautiful buildings and lots of history. In 1950's river flooded and engineers decided to divert the river around the city. There was therefore a 3km ribbon of land 150m wide which was turned into park, amenity space running though the city - great idea and impressively done! The city had a great spanish feel especially in the evenings with families walking - we never felt threatened and were never confronted by loud drunken youths as would be inevitable in UK. Party of 4 females and 2 males - hence we seemed to spend an inordinate amount of time in shoe shops of which there were many and I am told of great quality! They were always conveniently placed near terrace cafes so all were satisfied. As there were 6 of us we decided to take the bus rather than a taxi from the airport. It was very cheap. It did however go on a very long route which at times lead me to believe we had overshot the city centre. As it happened the taxis were 15 Euro from the city centre. I understand there is a train from the airport (300m) to the station... but we didn't see it. Not much english spoken so some basic spanish handy but of course not essential. Overall a great place to visit - we wouldn't go back because we've been but could certainly recommend to you!

(Report Problem)I have been to Valencia on 3 times over the last 16 months. If you get the chance go it is one of the most wonderfull citys in europe, it hase a great old town, older than Madrid and a space age new town, the science centre and the imax cinema is well worth it, and is good value for money. The old town has great squares and cafes realy top class musems its a great place to wonder about in, you will get lost in the narrow streets! but its all part of the charm of the old town, people are realy friendly so dont be frightend to ask for help.

(Report Problem)I am currently studying here in Valencia and am loving it very much. The city itself is amazing to visit. I am even so lucky to get to experience Las Fallas, a festival that is famous all over spain. The dried up riverbed that runs through the city is amazing. My favorite part is at the end of Blasco Ibanez near the Palau de Musica. Each section of the riverbed is different. Some have soccer fields, others are just parks, and the City of Arts and sciences is even it in. Walking along the riverbed and the surrounding city is an amazing way to see many things. Other great parts are Plaza de la Virgen with the main Cathedral. Plaza de Carmen has the most for nightlife. On Colon Street (also a metro stop) is some of the main shopping parts also near the main train station and the bullfighting ring. It is a fairly safe city. I havn´t had anything stolen since I have been here, however some bags have been snatched in the park, but just be smart about it and you will be safe. City transportation is also very easy to use.
