Big beautiful sity with a lot of kinds of architecture. Cold winter, but summer is quite warm. There are a lot of plants and factories. Ekaterinburg situated on ural region. Ural the land of gorgeous nature. Forests, lakes, mountains can give you excellent impression! I like this plase!

(Report Problem)If U wanna see how live real russians U have to visit this City! E-burg is not so big city like Moscow. Only 1.5 mln people live there. U can visit the border between the Europe and Asia (only 30 km from E-burg). U can see in Ekaterinburg the place where the Russian Tsar's family was killed. The Urals nature, mountains, rivers and lakes, russians villages. I'd like to advice U to visit Philharmonic Hall (super!) and geological museum.

(Report Problem)We have just returned from Ekaterinburg in Russia and we can see this place in Yahoo is not being populated yet. So we decided to share our backpacker's experiance with the ohers. Ekaterinburg is getting more of a tourist spot. Few years ago one could hardly find a tourist here. In spite of being fifth largest city in Russia ( locals believe it is the third biggest, but statistics says it is the fifth ). Ekaterinburg is a major city and it is situated on trans siberian railway, between Moscow and Novosibirsk. Direct flights from Western Europe, China and the Middle East that started recently, made soert of a boom in Ekaterinburg travel industry. More and more visitors from overseas come to Ekaterinburg to see the city where the Russian Tsar's family was killed and many decide to spend here more than just a few days. The disadvantage though is high hotel prices. There are some 15 hotels are being built in Ekaterinburg presently, but even when they completed, they won't be cheap. Now the situation is critical. Few city's hotels are not enough to cope with many visitors. The prices are high ( cheapest single room is around US $ 60.00 per night) and the "cheap" hotels often a shock to a vistor from overseas. There is a way around though. There are several companies in town offering budget self-contained apartments. Being reasonably prices and centrally located they offer a home away from home comfort and security, along with the privacy and space. We rented one and spent a lovely time there in Ekaterinburg. More info can be found here. Please share more information on Ekaterinburg here in Yahoo ravel, as for us it was difficult to get the information prior to our visit.
