Overall
The Louvre relies mostly on it's reputation. Everything is in French with no translations, therefore seeing priceless pieces of art mean nothing since you don't know what you are looking at. Unfortunately if you go to Paris you have to go to the Louvre just to say you went but if you have a choice, I would recommend the Musee d'Orsay instead. This museum is the best in Paris with the Monet, Manet, and other impressionists. Pieces are written in english and the layout is easy to follow. If you go to the Louvre you should only go out of your way for 3 items...Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and Winged Victory. Anything else just really isn't worth the effort. Trust me, Musee d'Orsay is the way to go!
