The Truth About the Louvre

five stars

I loved that I got a chance to see famous artwork and artifacts. Many people wish they could have the chance to go to the Louvre and it came true for me. The lines are not long as depicted in Eurotrip...at least they weren't for me on a June Saturday (Peak travel time). It is a great place for any age. I was 17 at the time, however all age groups can appreciate it. It was worth the time and money. I wish I had more time to look. I got lost a lot! I definitely recommend using one of the audio guides so you can get real information. If you are travelling with your family, buy one and recite the high points to the group! Its a great place to spend the WHOLE DAY! It doesn't get boring. I also recommend splitting up (if age allows) and having a few meeting points because it is so hard to view it as a group successfully. It is a self-paced type of place. I am going back again this summer!

A must see Museum

four stars

The architecture is amazing on the inside and outside. The Mona Lisa was a bit smaller than I expected but it is amazing to say that I have seen it. There are so many branches to see, I wish that I had spent more time there. This museum was second only to Musee de O'rsey.

Better than you'd expect!

five stars

The Musee du Louvre is more than just sculpure, it contains many many famous paintings as well (think Mona Lisa). You can also see a real head from the Easter Islands here, as well as art from Africa, Hawaii, and many other places around the world.

An AMAZING day.

five stars

The Louvre is an astonishing place to be and the quality and quantity of artwork will absolutely amaze you. If you only stop at the Lourve and the Eiffel Tower, your trip will have been pretty much a success.

"You could make a career out of seeing the Louvre"

four stars

The most famous museum in the world, but fair warning---do not try and see it in one day, it cannot be done, after a few hours you will simply burn out and it becomes a blur. A french friend of mine once said "You could make a career out of seeing the Louvre" this may be an exaggeration, but he is closer to right than wrong.

Amazing

five stars

When I went to the Louvre, it was one of the most amazing places I had ever been to. There is so much to see so you would most deffinitely want to give yourself a good amount of time to soak in all the beautiful art. I really enjoyed seeing the Mona Lisa for the first time and then going to the basement where the original palace was still intact (and very cold!). Anyone visiting France has to make time to see this museum, its a lot of fun.

wonderful

five stars

You will love it from the moment you get in, in my opinion the things you can't miss are the Mona Lisa (of course), Venus del Milo, the Egyptian room and mostly everything. If you really want to see the museum you should take a day from your trip so you can really enjoy it. Remember the most important piece of the museum the Mona Lisa take a moment of your day to really see it focus on her smile and her eyes (it looks like she is looking directly at you).
Good Trip :)

You'll love it if you liked the copies

five stars

If you studied the basics of art history, you'll be acquainted to some of the masterworks there. You'd seen photos... now be surprised at the original 3D ones, mainly the sculptures, the mega-big paintings, and Napoleon III's rooms. Small paintings are not so different from copies. See the Egyptian Sitting Scribe's light eyes, Venus de Milo rear, the Etruscan Weds embrace, wee details in Delacroix and Louis David enormous paintings... And if you like art and can spend time, you'll sure love some of the less known works
