(Report Problem)Beirut Retrospective
My last visit to Beirut was in 1982 - things were very different then. The Corniche was populated by literally hundreds of black market shops, enclosed by walls of cardboard and other cast-off items. West Beirut was not the best place to frequent as an American. The National Museum was difficult to reach, and rarely open. The hotels were stomping grounds of war correspondents and spies. Life was lived to the fullest because no one knew when they might lose their life. It was a hotbed of intrigue, wonderful people, incredible nightlife, trendy and tasty restaurants, routine gunfire and bombings. I miss that city, and intend to go back soon. I DO NOT miss the intrigue, gunfire and bomb blasts. This city is now open to all, and while there are still troubles, is still high on my list of places I recommend the intrepid traveler to sample. Yulla! Go now, before things get ugly again.

I was amazed at the incredible beauty of this little country is! The people were very friendly and food is absolutely awesome! The panoramic views of the country and sea from mountain villages were breathtakingly spectacular--it felt close to heaven! Worth visiting!

hi everybody,iam lebanese and i really like my country lebanon.this country is so wonderful, people,places,weather,amusement places and more...many tourists come to lebanon,,people here r kind helpful and welcome all.but after what happened here in lebanon ,that is the asassination of the most wonerful person i've ever known in my whole life; rafik el hariri,many things changed in leb and we are all sad and we feel like we lost a precious person and our precious country ..lebanon is so nice ,so cool,and no one comes here and forgets what lebanon is...so let us all pray lebanon stays beautiful and safe for all.....

I love it!! love it love it!!! It's one of those cities you fall in love with... nice people, charming atmoshere, astonishing night life, shopping is great, u don't feel you are in the Middle East at all if it wasn't for the charm of ancient monuments standing here and there... very open society.... pubs there are unbeleivable and girls?!!!! hummmmmmmmmmmmm I want to go back next summer!!!

theres just one word to describe beirut..AMAZING!no kidding its shopping sight seeing and evreything u rly wanna do on a vacation from the famous rouchieh rock and downtown its just one of the best countries i have been to ill give u some advice go there b4 its to crowded!
