There is alot I love about Negril! The Sea Star Inn was by far the best part. The 1st time we traveled to Negril it was to see the island the second time... we came to enjoy the Sea Star!!

(Report Problem)Negril Jamaica is a very beautiful place. What makes it so beautiful are of course the beaches and the people. The natives are so friendly. I have vacationed in Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Negril. I plan to return to Negril for my wedding anniversay this year. The food, the sun, the sand and of course, Rick's cafe are just some of the treats Negril has to offer. Negril is a place where you can be comfortable in whatever you wear, whether you choose to dress up or down. The sunsets and moonlights take your beath away. If you are looking for beauty, romance, fun and would like to really hang out with the locals, then Negril is the place for you.

(Report Problem)Jamaica is a little of heaven on earth. You will feel totally relaxed and in tune with the waves and the beautiful beach. The people will treat you wonderful. I have already been once and I am going back in July for my honeymoon. That is how special this place is to me. Please go if you have never have been. You will not regret this trip. Wonderful memories in Jamaica. Angie-Little Rock, Arkansas

(Report Problem)You know, i never stayed consecutive nights in Negril, however, lets not down this heaven on earth, as Negril is beautiful in the day and at night! The times i've traveled to Negril, i negociated a round trip taxi ride from $60-$65 U.S. dollars(with the unauthorized taxi drivers, or a cute Jamaican man with transportation). Its fun to do this as you can stay in the parish as long as you like, unlike an authorized taxi company who has a set time to return, with all your money in his pocket! As always, travel with street smarts, and go within a group of two or more for safety reasons. Remember, you are out of you element. I was fortunate to meet a nice rastafarian who took me within Westmoreland to the country part of Negril. I cannot tell you how i felt to see the worn houses, the lush green pastures, and the make shift bars and stores along the road. Make sure you bring plenty of film as the country ride is very nice. There is two ways to go to negril...request to go through Westmoreland instead of Hanover. Ask the locals where is the spring water pond in Negril, as it is up in the hills, and it is not a tourist community. Beleive me...the water makes your skin soft, and your hair actually grows from the minerals! If you are lucky, you may find the rastafarians bathing in the upper part of the spring pond, or stopping to fill their milk carton with fresh water to cook with. If you decide to bring some of the spring water home, make sure that you bring an empty plastic liter bottle from home, and wait until you are able to boil. The first time i tried the water, i did not get ill, but the second journey to Negril i came ill with travel bowel movements(smile). So please, boil the water if you decide to drink it! The other part i enjoyed about Negril is that on a summer's night you can stroll all night, and see all kinds of beach parties, resturants, and activities to get into. I cannot explain it, but when the sun sets in Negril on the sea, its like God put a blanket over you. It is so touching. Make sure you have good film when the sun sets as the pictures are really fantastic! The moon also shines bright on the white sands, and it feels like silk to walk barefoot! I didn't get a chance to eat any lobster or fish from the cafes on the beach, but i did enjoy a nice pizza and a ting grapefruit soda. I advise anyone to try a ting soda, as well as any of the local foods and beverages in Jamaica. Yes, i did have a good time in Negril, however, i would visit or go to a fun party, but i do not think i would stay for any extended time. Don't get me wrong, there are fine hotel resorts, craft shopping, local eateries, and dancing spots, however, if you are into solitude, nude bathing at a designated beach site, or want to spend time with a special guy or gal, this is the place to book a hotel and stay.

(Report Problem)If your idea of a great vacation is touts pressuring you to buy marijuana or procure a prostitute, this is the place for you. You cannot walk more than a few steps down the beach or along the main road without the relentless high pressure of the touts. It is so bad that men obviously walking along with their wife/girlfriend are offered prostitutes!!! Marijuana is offered for sale to young teenagers. And everyone wants a tip. I was asked for a tip from someone who just pointed to where I could find a taxi!!! And expensive??? A 12oz bottle of coke for $3, and a whopper and a coke for $6. With the wide variety of other vacation options available, it is beyond me why anyone would choose to go to Jamaica.
