Amazing.. a lot of culture

I would have to say it is the nicest country in Central America, the city may not be much, but if you go to historical places such as Tikal, and Antigua, then you are in for a treat.

Pleasantly surprised!!

2 major locations recommended: Tikal & Antigua during Easter week. Tikal: Our english-speaking guide was knowledgeable and took us through the park at a pleasant pace. The Mayan ruins/temples were awesome & breathtaking. Climbing up Temple IV was a highlight. Antigua: During Easter week, the atmosphere wes festive with processions twice a day. The "carpets" on the street (for the procession) were colorful & well made. Overall, food wes nice & reasonably priced. Service was good despite peak tourist season. Would recommend the Las Antorchas. However, be careful when withdrawing money from ATMs. Do not swipe card in any device other than the machine. Fraudulent withdrawals of $xxxx were later discovered in one of our cards!!! That was a lowlight, in an otherwise exciting & pleasant trip.

I'M GOING BACK TO GUATE, GUATE...

I WAS IN GUATEMALA CITY BACK IN JANUARY 01 FOR 3 WEEKS THEN HAD TO RETURN TO FINISH MY VACATION CUZ I RAN OUT OF TIME IN SEPTEMBER 02 AND IT WAS GREAT. THE PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY, THE HISTORICAL CONTENT OF THE CITY AND THE SURROUNDING TOWNS IS INVALUABLE. I'M GOING AGAIN THIS SEPTEMBER (05) AND I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT WENT AGAIN.

The most beutiful hotel ever...

I have traveled all over the world and been to some of the best hotels. When I was in Guatemala I staid in a ecological hotel calles HOTEL GRINGO PERDIDO, it is right in front of a big lake, about 30 minutes from Tikal. This rustic paradise is in the center of a natural reserve, it has the most beutifull suncets and most impresive views. It is heaven on earth.

Best city

Best city in Central America and one of the best in the whole region. Nice mixture of people and beautiful mountains and volcanoes along the way and in view.
