We went to the Sofra in Mohammed Farid Street, Luxor, in feb 2008, the food is still local, fresh produce and the staff are friendly and helpful with the description of the dishes. A 3 course meal cost us £5 each, no alcohol, no chips. The decor is old fashioned and slightly faded-which just adds to the charm.

(Report Problem)We found Sofra in November 2006 following a recomendation. We had a very enjoyable meal sitting on the roof over looking the street. They serve pickles and bread to you on arrival as an hors d'ouvres. They have a very extensive menu from which we selected chicken and beef tagines, which were excellent. There is a selection of the usual Egyptian pastries for desert. This is a truly moslem restaurant so, no alcohol, but don't let that put you off. It is s great experience.

(Report Problem)We flu over from Gatwick with Monarch air. It was heaven on Earth from day one. The weather was perfect. It was hot, but not to hot .Luxor temple makes Stonehenge look like a pile or rocks, and karnak you have to see it to believe it. Its so impressive. The people are very friendly. It was nice to see the locals enjoying the nightlife as well as the tourists. We crusted the Nile (With Viking 3) so we only eat out once ,but when we did it was lovely. It is not true about the markets ,they where fine. Only at Edfu (Horis temple) you had people running after you. My only concern was the air in Luxor wad a bit polluted. Chris and Harry Cox.

(Report Problem)Absolutely fabulous!!! My son and me have been in Luxor before. We stayed also at Partner Tutotel. This time we were impressed by the hotel, that is very clean (shinning), the staff very courteous (difficult to find in one three star hotel). We will never forget Gaber, Abdl Gabar. Really lovely staff and hard workers. We really enjoyed the show dancing with belly dancer, and the amazing dance called ”tannura” . The money we payed it was worthy ( 8 €) for the dinner and the show. The room was charming, with a good size and elegant furniture. The housekeeping always decorate the room with monkeys, crocodriles, flowers… We woke up every day with the spectacular Nile views. Note: Before the excursions to Valley of Kings…make photos from the roof. The daybreak is unforgettable. The pool is a bit small, but very clean .However we spent two days in the healthy club and having great moments with Ramadan and Islam (probably could be comedians ).At night you can get the dinner in the roof(at night the Nile breeze is very agreeable),and used to go to the 70`s place(the disco!. I returned to be 20 years old). I think that they have an Italian chef, in special the Italian food that they offered it was fresh and tasty. We also tried Indian food and the top-quality Egyptian desserts.(Even they give us the recipe to do it at home). Congratulations all my friends of Tut!!.
