Service without a smile !

three stars

Service without a smile ! The beach was beautiful except for the rough water that was filled with seaweed. Old San Juan is amazing, great shops and restaraunts and beautiful sights. I definitely recommend Aguaviva, on Calle Fortoleza, and you must check out the garden cafe at the El Convento hotel in Old San Juan. As for my stay at the Intercontinental, my boyfriend and I were disappointed by the service. Talk about service without a smile!!! We stayed for five days and encountered approx. five or six employees who seemed genuinely friendly and gracious. Unfortunatley the majority of staff weren't courteous or pleasant. The room was clean and the maid was very nice. The bell boys were also pleasant. The worst experience was at Momoyama's, the Japanese restaraunt in the hotel. The food was good however the hostess and waitress were unwelcoming. FYI- If you want amazing local food go to Metropol, which is located on Isla Verde Ave. Overall, the weather was beautiful and we had a great trip. However, common courtesy from staff such as "hello, thank you, have a nice day" were lacking.

Wow!

five stars

We had reservations at the Wyndham Condado but when we arrived we were turned away (we were told there was a water leak and heard someone else being told they were over-booked). They sent us to the Excelsior (what a dump!)and then sent us to the Intercontinental after we kicked up a fuss. This hotel is fabulous. Clean, efficient, well staffed. The location is out of this world - there was live entertainment, beautiful landscaping and the beach was spectacular. The rooms and views are gorgeous. One of the group mentioned that it was her birthday and the hotel sent a birthday cake to her room. Nice touch!

This Hotel is Great!

five stars

I thought that the beach was wonderful. The rooms were also very nice, but the elevator service took a while to get to ouyr floor. The view of the ocean was not great, only on the 15th and 16th floors. Overall it was a great experience. The pool was georgeous and the hutted lounge chairs were wonderful for shade.

Hurricane Jeane

one star

I was checking in the day after Hurricane Jeane hit Puerto Rico, and I called the day prior and the morning of the trip and no one informed me of the island wide power outage. I found out that I had no power when I went up to the hotel room, the staff did not even inform me when I checked in.
