Okay Hotel

four stars

We were in the ocean front room. A bit small for 2 adults and 2 kids. But it was okay. It was nice to have a marble floor. They kept the place clean. The beds were confortable. No smell of any kind. The bathroom plumbing needed a little fixing. Had to ask for extra shampoo and conditioner ever day. They should realize this especially becasue people are at the beach/swimmimg pool the whole day. You go through a lot of shampoo and conditioner. They were good in providing extra stuff but you had to remind them every day. Also ,remind them to make-up the room every day. But things were taken care of. Staff was friendy and helpful. Check-in and out was quick and without problems. The bill was correct. The breakfast was a bit expensive US$11 per person. If you are a vegetarian better to go and eat in the mall or in downtown. Do not eat at Come and Eat place in the mall. Food service at the pool side was good. You have to remind the waiter because they sometimes forget your order. Prices for pool side food are okay. They try to arrange a friendy water volleybay game. There is a ping pong table. Tennis court and miniature golf. Decent gym. All in all would not mind going back to the same hotel but would stay in the towers in a room with balcony facing the ocean. They have two swiming pools. We liked the pool in the old hotel not the Towers pool. The beach is decent and clean. AFter about 3PM the beach is covered by the hotel shadow. We liked this.

not so splendid

three stars

i have always thought of sheraton cancun as a "resort" as it claims to be. but my recent experience proved that to be hoax. the refrigerator which they have did not work at all. i called the hotel front desk and i was promised a prompt repair. three times i called, three times they promised. still nothing happened. the bathroom smelt because the fan stopped working. food which was plentiful but pricey and not that tasty. their octopus felt like chewing gums after the taste was gone. their shrimps were cold (this was not the desert). the window was loose and at nights it made terrible noise as the metal window frames were banging together. with my previous experience with the refrigerator, i decided to fix it myself with some folded paper stuffed tight between the frames and that worked. oh, by the way, with the weather in cancun 80-85degree, our hotel room air conditioner was not working. i would not go there if i were you.

What a RIP OFF!!!

one star

We booked our hotel through Yahoo Travel, and we said for 4 people and Yahoo Travel gave us one price, when we got to the hotel the hotel hiked up the price, which meant we got RIPPED off and paid $50 more a night then we had expected. We will NEVER book our hotel through Yahoo Travel again!!

Worst Hotel In Cancun

one star

This is the worst hotel in Cancun! The hotel personel are very rude. Upon arival at the hotel my group and I were forced to pay additional (hidden) fees. Read the fine print! The all inclusive plan is a rip off. The security guards harass the female guests and want tips for everything. Whether you are going to Cancun for spring break or mearly a family vaction do not go to the Sheraton. In conclusion, this hotel BLOWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A GREAT VACATION!

four stars

Just arrived back from Cancun March 9, 2005. Me and my family had a fabulous time at the Sheraton. The beach is beautiful (white sand that never gets hot) blue, blue water. The staff are very friendly & helpfull. The outdoor mall across the street "La Isla" is very nice, especially at night. We stayed in the resort, not the towers and found it perfectly fine. I personally would not pay extra for a balcony as the WINDOWS DO OPEN about 8 inches, enough for fresh air. I don't know about you, but we don't spend time in our hotel room while on vacation. If you want to hang out in your hotel room, then i would suggest the balcony. The room was cleaned two times a day and towels were changed twice as well. The nicer pool is at the resort, as well as fun activities. They have ping pong tournaments, bingo, beer drinking contests, beach volleyball, lots of fun. DO WATCH OUT FOR THE TOUR BOOTHS THAT ARE EVERYWHERE, THEY OFFER FREE STUFF IF YOU GIVE THEM 90 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME. "IT'S ALL FOR A TIME SHARE". We met a couple that fell for it, and it turned out to be most of the day (not 90 minutes)and they were pressured constantly to buy this time share. Yes, they did get their free tour afterwards but they said they were so stressed out that it wasn't worth it to them. Don't get me wrong, there is lots of beautiful tours to do. I would recommend going through the hotel (right in the lobby of the Sheraton) Let's see what else. oh yeah, you don't have to spend a fortune there either. We would go across the street every morning to the La Isla mall to the supermarket and buy our beer and drinks for the day (way cheaper)$7.40 for a six pack compared to $4.00 for one. We bought a cooler and brought that to pool or beach everyday. You are allowed to do that, they will even give you a bucket of ice. and you can get all the ice you want in the hotel on every floor. Mc Donalds is even across the street at the mall. Eating in the hotel will add up quickly, but as i say there is many ways around the huge expense. Take the bus downtown 6.5 pesos (which is 65 cents American)lots of nice places to eat. If you want your hair braided go to Market 28. Take the R2 bus and ask the driver to let you off there. If you get your full head done at the hotel it is $50.00 American (500 pesos) the market girls done my kids hair $5.00 for half and the full head was $10.00. Yes it's true, of course i gave them a bit more though. Remember Market 28 is where you can bargain for items. Whatever price they first tell you, you can get them down 30-40% lower. I hope this helps and have a fabulous time in Cancun.

Good and bad

three stars

The location is awesome!! It is located right on the beach and the beach is probably the best in that area. The service was really good on the beach also. The hotel needs some updates. We had some mold on the ceiling in the shower and that is not good when we both have bad allergies. The walls are really thin in the rooms so you can hear everything in the rooms next door. Luckily we were not in the room very much so it was not bad. There is also a great mall acrossed the road which is alot of fun!! Also the food at the hotel was really good.
