I have stayed at the russell court hotel many times and each time I go there I vow never to return. The only reason I have stayed there is because it was close to my place of work. From now on I will walk the extra 2 miles to my workplace and stay at the Jurys Inn. The only good thing about the hotel is the bar. The rest is dreadful.. The staircases are a health hazard - holding onto the bannister nearly snaps the wood. The rooms are big, old fashioned, nothing works... The bathroom was dirty and the shower was nearly impossible to use - it either stayed on 'freezing cold' or 'scalding hot' - I spent about 15 mins trying to adjust the temperature and then just gave up... the food is overpriced bbq food - and breakfast is hopeless... to top this all off, all staff seem to be eastern european and there doesn't seem to be anyone there who is actually in charge, or cares enough to own up that the place is a total shambles. If you enjoy staying up from 1am - 5am until all the drunken idiots clear the street, then you have just found the hotel for you.

Faulty Towers without the added bonus of John Cleese Filthy, dangerous, vile beds, dirty linen

I stayed at the Russell Court Hotel on the 13th January 2007. Well what can i say......the reception staff gave you a good welcome. One taken pass the new art deco reception it was though you were instaying a Faulty Towers. The staircase bannister moved when you grabbed hold of it. The stair spindles were either broke or loose. They were so dangerous a member of our party hurt themselves but got no apology from the hotel manager. She is actually looking to sue them. The rooms were dirty. The carpets are so old that your feet stuck to them. The bedding was dirty and smelly. The sheets were clean and so were the towels. One of the rooms we occupied had a blue carpet with blood stains, along with win stain and the other we could make out. The window in the room was cracked. In the evening the night reception who we nicknamed "Emanuel" would not give us a coffee on room service and he gave us coffee sachets and told us to make our own. Overall.....would I go back.....not on your life.....would I recommend this hotel to others........NEVER

Excellent value hotel, loud and lively, caters for all age groups who still have some life in them. Hotel very clean, staff helpful, food good as is the Guiness. As a group of ten 30 and 40 somethings this hotel was an excellent choice for a fun packed weekend.
Great for: Nightlife, Hip/Trendy Scene

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days in August 04 - never again. We asked
for a quiet room and were given 301 on the third floor, which is actually a
suite. Never stay here of Thursday,Friday or Saturday as there is live,
very loud music in the beer garden at the rear of the hotel untill 3 am-
its a hotel speciality. The room was furnished with junkshop repro cast offs
and the springs stuck out of the matress narowly missing causing my wife
serious injury. We complained and were moved to room 40 . Slighltly better
but the tiles around the bath were cracked and dirty , the hot water bath
tap head kept falling off, wallpaper was peeling off the wall and we had a
view of the inside of a WC on the roof of the building opposite. The
carpets on the staircase were threadbare and a number of banister rails
were broken.
The public areas down stairs were quite presentable, the
staff friendly and the breakfast on the greasy side but adequate.
This
hotel has 2 night clubs as well as a large beer garden and markets itself
locally for weddings and functions. The accommadation is a poor after
thought.
