Pity about the lack of a welcome in an otherwise nice hotel

This hotel has friendly staff in food, bar & rooms service, but the check-in was most off-putting. On arrival we gave the name of the Reservation and were told, without any hello or welcome, 'Your deposit paid was only for 1 night (this was on the hotel's guidance) you have to pay the rest of the week in advance -its a new rule'. On saying one was used to paying the remainder on departure or having credit card swiped, a notice with the new rule was pushed toward us. The hotel does have a lot of good points, it is clean and the food was very good, but it is unsuitable for anyone with walking difficulties as it is set on different levels with lots of steps and no ramp.
