Stayed at the York Moat House for business in February. Th room was very nice with a great view of the river and the minster. However, the food was dreadful. All that was on offer was a 'carvery'(a long walk down a corridor) offering very fatty roast beef or gammon or some dried up fish. There was no vegetatrian option. My colleague haad the worst Yorkshire pudding he had ever experienced'! Hard as a brick. Service was slow and innattentive - although we had booked a table we had to wait in a dark, cloased bar area to be seated. There were only a few people were dining but we had to go and search for someone to ask for another botlte of wine. Lifts also very slow. Bar too small for number of guests though bar staff very efficient and helpful.

The York Moat House was "dated" and "dirty" on our visit on 30th October 2004. The hotel needs a good revamp to get up to date. The hotel needs to be modernised otherwise it will get washed away down the River Ouse, never to be seen again. We decided not to stay for the two nights that we had planned. Lets see if our complaints to the hotel will be actioned !
