Beautiful rooms, great location. We like to come here for the weekend sometime in December and shop at Union Square during the holidays. They have special holiday teas, decorations, and carolers during this time, as well.

Excellent tower views and location for parties. Spacious rooms that are very modern and comfortable. The hotel's location is perfect for shopping and gallery visiting. The hotel offers a luxury experience and service.

Do you ever yearn to be treated like royalty within one of the greatest
cities in the US? If your answer is yes, then the Westin St Francis will
not disappoint.
Located in the heart of downtown San Francisco on
Powell, the Westin stands as an imposing legend over Union Square. It
provides the best location for shopping, (Macy's, Saks etc.,)
restaurants and theatres over its peers, the Hyatt or Marriot. The hotel is
made up of two parts, the original building when the hotel first opened in
1904, and the newer towers just behind which opened in 1972.
The
moment you walk through the marble-paved lobby you know you are in for
something special - with the sunlight bouncing off the artwork on the walls
and the central seating area, it feels like you are in your very own
palace. The front desk always greats you with a smile and check-in is
quick and pain free. The rooms have all been renovated and are bright and
clean - they also all feature the Westins' Heavenly Bed - which is very
similar to the Sheraton's Sleeper. If you can get a room in the new
towers on floors 20 and above I would recommend it, as the views are
breathtaking - not to mention what must be the fastest elevator in the
world! Oh, and if you are a gold Starwood preferred guest, then expect to
be upgraded to a preferred room.
Without a doubt The Westin St
Francis captures old-style service and quality with modern amenities - put
this high on your list!

The St. Francis is still one of my favorite hotels in the world. Perfectly located on the corner in Union Square - the Westin holds a grand appearance like no other... This was my first exposure to the heavenly bed 4 years ago and it still beats out any Westin I have stayed at since. You can find an amazing deal on this hotel at time for under 150/night and it is worth every single penny.... This hotel is elegant, grand, luxurious and a small slice of heaven.

The Westin is a historical part of San Francisco. In the present, though, its role is more historical than hotel. The rooms are small and old, the noise level high, and the prices high too. The building is gorgeous and I would rather visit and tour than stay. However, it's not bad to stay at. The rooms maintain an air of elegance despite their size. And the staff is pleasant, though formal.

The Westin is a San Francisco landmark, and it's a beautiful old
building that was beginning to get a little long in the tooth. I myself,
would never have stayed there if it weren't for Restaurant Michael
Mina. Michael Mina, for those of you who don't know, is one of the
hottest chefs working today. He made Aqua probably the best restaurant in
S.F., his backers include Andre Agassi, and he opened his flagship
restaurant a month ago in the Westin to rave reviews. The lobby has been
completely revamped, the restaurant, formerly the languishing Compass Rose,
is now one of the hottest tables in town. In short, this ugly duckling has
become a swan.
The rooms are lovely, the location is wonderful (in
the heart of downtown S.F.) and for the record, the food is fantastic. Book
a table well in advance and enjoy a stay in one of S.F.'s oldest and
swankest hotels.

this is a good old hotel in nice location but watch what room you get many
very noisey from elevators may sound like a plane in your room. also,
expect to pay for things like exercise and no hot tubs or jacuzzis
there.
the service at the counter leaves a lot to be desired but
conceires are very helpful
