Service was friendly, helpful and professional, however some bartenders had a stuck up attitude, very snoody. Room was small and had some problems with the heat & cooling system, but was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was fantastic. The location was great and convenient. This was my first visit to the W and won't be my last.

The W New York is the epitome of NY style. The best things about it are the bath products (Bliss) from their spa, the towels and beds. This is a place that manages to feel like a home away from home because of the comfortableness. It is an important thing to note that if you are from the Midwest everyone will know when you walk through the ultra-hip, see-and-be-seen lobby after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. Perhaps it was a little "too" cool for us.

If you are familiar with the W brand you won't be disappointed. Those who are not into minimal, sleek, upscale hotels need not book a room. The rooms are small yes, but this is NYC. Beautiful lounge bar area, kick back and order a cocktail before hitting the town. This hotel has everything you need.

Ok, so I know I can't expect a sprawling room when I go to NYC, but these rooms are OUTRAGEOUSLY small... It's an absolutely MUST to get a premium room (very little extra money) that have a little more room. The standard rooms are very cool, but not practical - the bed is in the VERY CENTER of the room... making you have to angle your body just so in an effort to walk around the bed... The bar and restaurant downstairs rocks and there are nice loungy chairs to hang in. Customer service is exceptional. Just be ready to suck in as you walk from the bathroom to your bed.

This is by far the worst W hotel I've ever seen. It tries very hard to be sleek and trendy, but it fails desperately to live up to the W name. I have to give them credit, the rooms are nicely decorated for such a tiny space, but I imagine that is because they have to compensate for size. The rooms are way smaller than average and the bathrooms are even smaller. The shower had a really low basin, and if that was meant to be part of the design, then they should have also designed the shower drain to drain properly because by the end of the shower, the floor was flooded. When we complained to the front desk, they were completely apathetic, I should have expected so much as none of the employees could even cracked a smile upon checking in. The vibe of the W New York is overly trendy to the point where it is very cold and uninviting. The adjacent Whisky Bar seemed to have the most going for this place. They definitely hired a nice interior designer for the W New York, the details are appreciated, Aveda products in the bathroom are a nice touch, but the rest is a feeble attempt at actually making the guest feel welcome. For the amount of money you could pay somewhere else, I would not recommend staying here.

I stayed at the W while on business in New York City. I could not believe that when I opened the door to my room I had about 3 feet and there was the bed - directly in the middle of the room! The only space left was a border of 2 feet around the entire bed. I had to use the desk - which wasn't even a desk more like a countertop extending from the walls - to put my luggage on. The bed was great but the aggravation wasn't worth it - especially when I got the bill at the end of the week.

Loved the location, the feel of the place and the bar was fun. The room itself was super small...barely enough room to put my suitcase on the floor. very claustrophobic!

there's barely enough room to unpack your luggage and walk around the bed, which is the most redeeming quality in the room since it's soooo comfortable.

There are several W hotels in NYC - I believe this is the first one. It's near all the major subway lines so it's easy to get around. The surrounding area isn't that interesting, but it is convenient for visitors to midtown. I like the W because it's modern and interesting, yet still comfortable. The rooms are tiny, but well-designed. The beds are super comfortable and the staff is helpful.
